Hey DONT for get about Wellcraft! I know they no longer make go fasts but sence you dont want BRAND NEW. Take a look at the 91-95 23 foot NOVA Spyder. I love mine and they fit the bill you said you need to a T. I picked it up 3 years ago this summer for less then 20,00o with a trailer. It has stand up bolsters, Big Block, Bravo it runs 60 GPS and I use it in the Puget Sound witch can be a little ugly. The Boat is a true 23 with a bolt on swim step. I has a good size cabin for the wife and a port-a-poty. It also has enouph free board that no one will get scared of being tossed or falling out. There is sevrel of us on the board with them now or in the past. Ask IKE what he thought of his.

Not sure you'll have much luck towing with the Disco, but a Baja Outlaw 24 would be an excellent choice. Deep-V, reasonable birth below, standup bolsters, lot's of freeboard, pretty fast, well-screwed together. Nice amenities to keep the wife happy, and plenty of sport too. Should be a dime a dozen for the 24 footers with 454 Mags, or maybe even a 502. Good luck. Dave

The Discovery is a nice, mid-sized SUV, and I can see why she wants one. But there are other nice ones with higher tow ratings. Any chance of getting her to reconsider?

I already have a "sports car" and now I'm getting a "new boat" so she gets what she wants...
My idea is to keep the boat in a boatel during the season and tow it home in the winter or for an occasional road trip.
According to LR:
The 2003+ Discos have 4.6L motor, 217 hp @ 4,750 rpm
Torque @rpm 300 lb-ft @ 2,600 rpm
Maximum trailer weights
On-Road Off-Road

Ok Chuck here are a few more sence I am home. Hey us Chuck's have to stick together Also I like having something a little diffrent not a total cookie cutter boat and because many people reconize the name Wellcraft it gets respect. (out side of the GO-FAST world)

Chuck, You have been given some really good info from the other members on here. As Chris stated earlier, I am gonna put my Baja up for sale. Being that I am going to Florida I am going to need a bigger (read 30ish) boat. Here's what I got.
1988 Baja 240 Sport. Excellent Condition, true 24 foot, 24 % deadrise, dropdown bolsters, 454 mag, 1.5 to 1 Bravo 1 Drive, two 23 pitch props, one is a mirage and the other is a cleaver, trim tabs, porta potti, 100 gallon tank, just over 300 hours on fresh water only, will do 59 mph with two people and quarter tank of gas. This was checked on a GPS unit. Dont always trust drive or pressure actuated speedos on boats, rarely are they correct. I also installed a custom stereo with Alpine head unit, Two 6x9 two 6 1/2 two 12 inch subs and two amps. All Marine equipement. Along with Neon tubes in cockpit and one in engine compartment. It comes with a heavy duty Eagle trailer with tandem wheels and brakes.
I have over 25k in the boat and stereo stuff. Will be willing to sacrifice on the price. Lookin to get around 20 for everything. I have taken the boat out in windstorms when we would get 2 and 3 footers and it rides nice. Can definately handle the conditions you described before. If you are interested let me know.
