Hey Dennis. We have lots of ideas for the graphics. Everything from mild to wild. We are even considering the original Kid Apache scheme. We have all summer to figure that out. Anyway, here are some updated pics taken today.
Here is a step that they installed at the front of the cockpit to help gain access to the bow. They modified it to fit in this spot and then painted it to match. |

Here is the dash. We are still waiting for the new compasses to arrive from Ritchie, then those big holes in the top of the dash will be filled.
I am not 100% sold on the white steering wheel. We needed a replacement due to the different hub and dash assembly, so we ordered white. We figured that it was stupid to order a red or yellow wheel this year, only to replace it after the summer when we reupholster the cockpit. Tres says that the white wheel is not bad when you are looking at the whole picture because the whole boat is white. In this picture though, the white wheel looks way out of place. We'll see what it looks like when we see the whole boat. |

The new Myco is finished and ready to go under the boat. Hats of to them again. Not only is the trailer completed on time, but it looks great! Here it is.

Here are the water tanks and the wash down pump. There are hose connections on both sides of the trailer for easy access.

This is the last picture for now. Here are the boxes. There are a pair of 8' boxes and a pair of 4' boxes for plenty of storage.

LEOPAJM : The more I look at it, the more I think that the white wheel will have to go on the shelf for the summer. I also agree about the interior. I think that the red interior is going to be really hot. That is why we want to change it. If we have a good summer season, we are planning to get rid of the red interior when we paint the boat this coming winter. Then, if we go with a white interior as planned, the white wheel will look fine. In the mean time, I may have to come up with something. I was hoping that the white wheel would grow on me, but it hasn't yet. I'll have to see what I can do.

Hot Duck, Nice trailer.
Do you have any more pictures of that truck???? |
Awesome boat.

Hey Will looking good...cant wait to see it in OC this summer. When are you picking it up?

FeverFan : This truck?

bryanspeedracer : Thank you. We have a long way to go, but it's getting there.
VelocityMike : I don't have a set date yet. Within the next few days the boat is going to be transfered to the new trailer. While the boat is in the air Tres and his crew are going to go over the hull one more time to do a thorough inspection. There are some minor dings and chips that need to be fixed and they are going to make sure that there are not any problem areas that were missed while the boat was on the trailer. If this all goes well, the plan is to get the boat in the water next week for some testing. Tres is going to spend some time in it to make sure that the boat is set up correctly and dialed in. That is the game plan as of today, but you know how that goes. :) |

That's A Serious Tow Rig !!!!
Don't listen to LEOPAJM  if you had picked a black wheel he would have suggested white cause it's cooler :D I'm impressed with all your efforts to bring one of my all time favorite big Apaches back to life, it takes a ton of $ ( don't save the receipts) and just as much patience. This year get it running and sorted, next year make it pretty.
BTW I vote for returning it to the Apache Kid / Kid Apache graphics....... always loved that thing  I'll be in OC in August ( I say it's for the kids but it's really for me, man do I miss it) I'm going to make an effort to find ya, buy you a couple a drinks and lobby for the old graphics :D :D Jim Deitz |

Originally posted by LEOPAJM I second that !!! My FAVORITE Apache as well !!! Hey ... Didn't you USED to have red interior !!?!?!?:D Actually it wasn't too bad up here ( more cool days on Erie than hot) but in OC in July and August it'll be a tad uncomfortable. |

WHATEVER !!!!!!!!!:D
Keep us posted Duck !!!!!!!! JM |
FeverFan : Unfortunately I don't have any more pics or info on that truck. It looks like a pretty serious tow rig too. If I was there when these pics were taken, I would have certainly checked out that rig from top to bottom. Tres took these pics and sent them to me via e-mail.

Too Old : That wheel is sweet!
LEOPAJM : The interior has faded a little, but in person it still looks red, thank goodness. Of course, if it was pink the boat would REALLY stand out. :p |
Will -
Awesome progress. Look forward to running with you this summer. What did you and Tres wind up propping it with? I'm headed down the beach in about an hour. I'll be there at least until Sunday morning. Give me a call on my cell if you get a chance. If I'm out and about, which of the firehouses are you in, 15th Street? |
O.C.Barry : Hey man. Sorry I missed you this weekend, but I have been on the go for the last few days. It was a hectic weekend to say the least, but the weather was GREAT! :D
I hate to say this, but I can't answer your question about the props because we have not done any testing yet. I spoke to Tres yesterday and the boat is finally off of the old trailer. While they have it off, they are repairing a few spots on the bottom. We figured that these repairs might as well be done while they are easily accessible. Anyway, the plan is to get the bottom work completed and then put the boat on the new trailer. Once this is done, the boat will be ready for testing. I'll keep you posted. |

Oh yea, I did get a few new pictures a couple of days ago. The new compasses have finally arrived from Ritchie, so the dash is now done for this year. I think that it came out really well considering the limitations that Tres and his crew had to work with. In the overall picture, we spent very little money this year for cosmetic items. Our focus was all about making everything work. Even so, these guys still made everything come out looking good in the long run! :D

Looks great Will! I'll be in Lauderdale the first week of May, I'll stop by and say hi to Tres and take a look at your boat.

Here is another update. While the boat was off of the trailer, we decided to do the needed bottom work. There were numerous small cracks where the strakes join the flat part of the hull. These were ground out and repaired. There were also quite a few chips and dings that needed to be repaired. No big deal, but it takes a little time. Here are a few shots taken during all of the grinding.

These guys are supposed to have the boat ready to go on the new trailer this afternoon. Tres is planning to go over the boat one last time tomorrow to double check everything. As of today, he is planning to start water testing on Wednesday. I'll keep you all posted. Here is one last picture from this morning.

HD, I think I have some nice close ups of the hole in the bottom suffered in the 92 or 93 key west races somewhere around. If you like I could scan them and send them to ya. She was a sweet looking boat then and still is now, even all white is a beauty.
|
I would love to see them. I'll send you a PM with my e-mail address.
