That's the only boat I've seen with more deck to buff than my Formula.

Also, I vote for keep the white hull and teal logo and put the teal interior back in it.

The detailing work on the exterior of the boat and on the engines is finished. Needless to say, I am very impressed with the results. I will have some pics of the finished cockpit this coming week.

Will,

Did you have to change the transom Mounts and gimbles when you did the drysump conversion?

Re: Project Update - 45 Apache

Tonto: Thank you. I can't wait to get down there again. We will be down there as soon as our drives are finished. We are just waiting on the word from Tres. I seriously doubt that it will be any time this week. I am thinking that it will be the later part of next week if everything goes well. We'll see. Tres has worked some miracles in the past, so you never know. I'll keep you posted.

WetKitty42: We do not have to change any of that because we are using the same uppers and just converting them to dry sump. The old lowers, however, will be removed and replaced with a new pair with the swept back skeg. As you know, these already contain the dry sump setup right from Mercury. With this combination, we get all of the benefits of the new dry sump drives, but at a fraction of the cost of a new pair.

Re: Project Update - 45 Apache

By the way, if you guys know anybody that needs a pair of #6 lowers, Tres took ours in on trade.

Hopefully it will be home by the time you come down. I'll keep this thread up to date to keep you posted. As for the rooms, check us out....Commander Hotel If you decide to book a room and want to bring your boat down, give me a few days notice and I can arrange room for your trailer on one of our parking lots.

Another update. The cleaning work is finished and everything came out really well. We are still waiting on the drives, but when they are finished the boat will be ready to go. Here are some pictures that Jacky took this morning.

Here is the cockpit. These pictures also show the removable cover that they made to cover the two rear bolsters. This gives us the choice between a large sun pad or two more bolsters. For those that noticed, the engine hatch is indeed propped open in the first picture. They disconnected the hydraulic rams so that the engine hatch would open more and give them a little more room to work.

This is the back right corner of the cockpit. The carpet on the back wall and the vinyl on the side walls are spotless. The most amazing thing is that the floor is actually white again!

That's all part of the cosmetic stuff that will take place later on when we paint it. Right now it is a little mix matched, but once we pick a paint scheme we can start collecting parts that will work with it. We are not even 100% sure if the interior is gonna stay red or if it is going to change down the road. It all hinges on the chosen paint design. In the mean time, the pictures above represent how it will look for this season. Give us another year or two. It will all come together in the end.

Will, the boat is looking great! Are you going to bring it up to any of the OPA races? I'm sure they could use another "patrol" boat. Can't wait to see it.

Hey Bob. That would be a lot of fun. Those OPA events are a blast! I would also love to get involved in some of the NJPPC poker runs. I think that they would be a blast as well. Could you image you, Bill, Mark, Dennis and me in the same boat for a Poker Run? :D  :D
