Lightbulb Wanna be a boating casualty?

...here are the Coast Guard's 2003 boating list of casualties....
2003 Coast Guard Data

Total boating casualties nationally: 524

Those casualties with life Jackets on: 82

Those casualties without life jackets on: 442

84% of all casualties did NOT have life jackets on.....

so don't worry about Cats or V's being safer...there is the number one factor....wear a life vest folks!

...I may look like a nerd with one on ...but hey...the facts speak for themselves.....even drunk boaters were not close....in fatalities/casualties...

...and now compare boating overall casualties vs. auto or plane casualties....with a life jacket ON....boating is probably one of the safest forms of transportation around...amazing?

so now I am wondering why insurance rates are SO HIGH FOR BOATERS.....more people are casualties walking to cross a street than in all boating casualties for the whole year of 2003....

....thousands of car casualties....thousands of aviation casualties....500 or so boating casualties?

it's really amazing....just wear a life jacket!
