The Bat boat is excellent way to go .

But if for some reason it is over your budget, have you considered the SOB class?

Single Outboard Boat 21 to 24 ft vee bottoms.

Rules For The SOB Class

Any conventional vee bottom stepped or padded allowed

Minimum length: 21 feet inches

Maximum length: 24 ft 0 inches

“Vee-Hull Designs Only” No Wing Styled Boats, Tunnel-Vees or Catamarans

No Minimum Weight

Hydraulic Jacks Plates allowed

Set-back brackets allowed

Crew onboard: Mandatory 2 people.

No letters, Number only to minimum height set by Sanctioning Body’s Rules Leave room in front of Number if you choose to run in P5 at anytime.

Remote water pickups allowed

No Capped Speed or Bracket racing for this class except at the 3 rough water race sites.

Engines:

Any Single Outboard Engine by any Manufacturer

Any octane pump gasoline only (No alcohol, nitros, etc.)

Races:

Courses to be determined by sanctioning body

Depending on the number of entries, it is 1st choice to run this class by itself.

Distance same as P5 class 40 miles

Safety:

Follow All Safety Rules and Equipment requirements of the sanctioning body.

That's It!! Copy It, Save It, & Print It...

Good luck whichever way you choose.

And BTW, Welcome to the board!

Wish there was a SIO class ,outboards are an expensive hobby it costs me more to keep a 50hp ob running per year than my hp500.....

Donzilla,
Contact either Smitty's Marine or Kurts Marine for details on joining OPA. Most likely you would run in P5, a speed bracketed class up to 70 mph. This class now has a few 24 Panteras, four or five 28 Panteras, a couple of 24 Sunsations, a couple of 24 Carreras and others.....What is your boat? It looks like a 26 Corsa? What power do you have? Come on out and play!!

Donzilla, call OPA at 732 477 7400 to get a rule book and also to get a number for your boat. No doubt, you'll run in P5.

Also, join the mailing list at www.thejerseyboyz.com to get all future updates and information.

I'm sure OPA has some sort of rule book available. Contact Kurt to see what he has.
