Posters vs Lurkers

It is easy to know who the posters are but I bet a lot of us are curious about just how many lurkers are out there.

The question is, Are there more Lurkers or Posters??

If your a lurker, let your "silent" voice be heard you can vote and still not have to post.

CigDaze 04-27-2004 08:58 AM

Almost 19,000 members and you only see maybe a few hundred regulars post often. I'd say there are a lot of lurkers. ;) :)

Vote up.

Downtown42 04-27-2004 08:59 AM

good question! Proud to be poster boy.

dkwestern 04-27-2004 09:02 AM

I post a few times a week, but am also a lurker at times, just depends on the threads and if they interest or pertain to me I guess.

DoTheMath 04-27-2004 09:03 AM

Poster... Er, lurker... Basically just like DKW just said, lurk on a day-to-day basis, and post when I feel I can contribute.

Although I'll admit that I "lurked" for about a year before I joined, I guess I should have joined sooner, could have had that post count up at least a couple hundred more by now:D

BK 04-27-2004 09:08 AM

Just to let you know...

You have to be a gold or platinum OSO member to vote in the polls - I'll guess that most lurkers probably can't vote. ;)

C M R 04-27-2004 09:10 AM

Like DoTheMath and DK I'm on OSO just about every day.. and post every once or twice maybe three times a week but i'm here!! :D

katywompus 04-27-2004 09:17 AM

My name is Don and I am a lurker :D

Downtown42 04-27-2004 09:23 AM

hi don

catlover 04-27-2004 09:30 AM

Hi, I'm Chris and I am a addicted lurker.

HyperBaja 04-27-2004 09:34 AM

I am a lurker also. ;)

RollWithIt 04-27-2004 09:34 AM

Definate Poster here. Dont post in every thread I read but I am sure that goes for all of us. But if I feal that I can add something to the thread, I feal free to do so.

Here's Johnny 04-27-2004 09:34 AM

Lurk everyday...post when I can contribute or when I need a question answered. You would be suprised how much I have learned from lurking in my two years of OSO.

Reed Jensen 04-27-2004 09:34 AM

I post almost everywhere.... people that know me know that I'm a post 'ho..... but I don't post in the Apache thread too much.... I don't want the sh!t to splash on me......:D

bryanspeedracer 04-27-2004 09:34 AM

I'm a poster, actually a geeker. I get on once a day before work. This site has been a huge asset to me. I hope that I can help someone, just once...;)

Well then I am proud that you chose to make your second post in almost 2 years on my thread.

To be a true lurker, you really need to be able to
go months and months without posting, if you post
a few times a month than I would say you are "moderate poster":D :D

RJ1340 04-27-2004 09:52 AM

I never post. Not even now.

mirageman 04-27-2004 10:19 AM

I am the "poster" child for the lurkers....
:)

PatriYacht 04-27-2004 10:29 AM

Hi Donna. While I was lurking out here, I saw your poll. Interesting thread. See ya.

gdfatha 04-27-2004 10:32 AM

I am the oldest OSO blue hair and can't remember if I'm a poster or a lurcher:( :(

dockrocker 04-27-2004 10:32 AM

Who me? Post? Never! ;)

stevebaretta 04-27-2004 10:40 AM

I only post when I have something relevant to say but my my favorite is to post pics when I have some. Most of the time I lurk and check out what's going on.

Jonas 04-27-2004 10:44 AM

hey i just got to 600...
not a big poster but here and there,

farfrumwerken 04-27-2004 11:00 AM

This is not original, but wanted to join in...Like many of you all, I do both: lurk and post when I feel like I have something to contribute. Since I registered on OSO last year, I've learned much more than I can contribute. Looking forward to more...

Spicy 04-27-2004 11:07 AM

Lurker, post when I feel I have something to contribute...

robyw1 04-27-2004 11:17 AM

I wonder where Troutly would fall on this subject? :D:D

Incorrect statement, you have to be a registered member to vote, not Gold or Platinum.

FYI- our experience had been that most lurkers don't respond to polls but if you are really interested we have those statistics.

There are many more (10x) the number of lurkers than posters. We wish that the lurkers would register so we could anticipate band width usage. It is also easier to schedule harware upgrades before it is too late.

waterbum 04-27-2004 11:55 AM

Lurk most of the time

Average post count is about 5 posts per month. Read posts almost daily. This site has been extremely valuable in learning from those who truly are experienced in this industry. My only boating expertise is in spending money on a project that seems to never end and what not to do. I participate in those threads.

Doug:D

BRET 04-27-2004 11:57 AM

Mostly lurker, post in baja section sometimes.
I am on every day. Wife thinks I'm talking to another girl in a chat room:D :D

MitchStellin 04-27-2004 12:01 PM

I post, never lurk. This site has done everything from get thru tough times, get great advice, meet great friends, and even find the boat I currently have, I also sold a boat here. After a National search for my boat I found the only one here. This site is like a great friend, always there for you. Thanks OSO.

dyno 04-27-2004 12:09 PM

Come on its like living in a magazine!!!If you dont ask ?'s your missing out.

Ms PatriYacht 04-27-2004 12:34 PM

Lurkers are voting, but us posters are still ahead.:D

You know what I like most about this thread, besides the fact that I started it:p :p We are getting a chance to see some cool avatars that hardly get a chance to be seen. So if you are a lurker and are not feeling to shy, just post and say Hi and SHOW US YOUR AVATAR

Lurker turned Poster.
I lurked for a year, but then had to join and start posting. When I saw the response to Dirty Race Girl's accident, I knew that this was a group I wanted to be a bigger part of.

I think I post too much. I've only been a paid member for six weeks but I'm catching Troutly. You know how it is with something new.

Glad I joined. Been more than worth it just in Tech advice, not to mention entertainment value.

If you're lurking and not registered, go for it.
This OSO group is outstanding.
