Incase "anyone" thinks steps are a marketing gimmic. It's actually from the 1940's.
In the 30's when sea planes first used em.....they were an engineering change.

Today they're a marketing gimmick.

KLAATU, excellent idea m'man!

I'm going to market them on my site and give you a cut. I'll call them the 'BS', as in Bunny Sensor. Of course they will be offered in different colours and sizes for stepped and non-stepped app's. God help you if you mix the application up... Nice to hear the wide range of opinions.

Brian

P.S. has anyone come up with a bunny/pancake smilie?

Steps are definitely a marketing tool. If you don't have them customers aren't looking at you as much. None the less companies like Sonic are doing great without them.

However they do work. A constant increase of atleast 10% for us using identicle hulls and decks on a 37', 8500 lb. boat. Every time, too. Single step DDC design. And I would venture to say anybody on the board that has ridden in one would testify to it's unusual ride and attitude.

The problem is going to be injuries, lawsuits and government control as we all have talked about. We already see the lawmaker's heavy hand regarding emissions and noise. Certainly safety is on the top of the list.
