I just checked an old Lake Powell map... I was there Memorial day 1999... Lake level was 3680.7... it's now 93 feet lower.... it was 20 feet down from maximun level then... the spillway is 3700 feet... so... right now the lake level is 113 feet below maximum level... really scary....

I read the other day that the lake has lost over half of it's water supply because the top 100' is approximately half of the total volume of the lake. The channel they dug several years ago to get out of Waweep is now rendered useless. The only way to get there or out is go by dam and around Antelope island. That's a whole lot of extra time when you rent or own a houseboat, not to mention the added fuel.

Heres a great website with a bunch of pictures of all the ramps and current updates with the water level at a elev of 3587, along with stuff form 03 when the level was at a elev of 3607, most items should look the same or worse. It looks like they have stepped up and lengthen alot of ramps, and most are accessiable. Just expect to look at alot of white rocks instead of red, at least at lake level.

Here is another photo that is kind of cool.............the pics shown are from the uppermost areas of the lake, Hite bridge is whats shown. The bulk of boating and recreation happens at the southern end of the lake which still has plenty of water in it. History has shown drought is a cyclical occurance, it will refill in time.
