My mom used to drop me off at the harbor. Used to fish all day. no such things as child molestors. People could actually be trusted. No such thing as DWI's. At the most the cop's would make us pour the beer out on the side of the road.

Anybody ever play with mercury? It was the greatest thing in the world. I could roll those little silver balls around for hours. Today they would clear out a city block.

And my wife's family of 6 would go to the jersey shore in the '77 Vette ( my wife on her mothers lap and her brother and two sisters squished in the back) :D

one of our favorite things was begging dry ice off the popsicle man.

kids today spend way to much time indoors. we used to leave in the morning with a p & j sandwich in our back pockets , play in th woods all day catching frogs , snapping turtles , building forts , playing war , dirt clog fights (someone always got hurt) but we had a blast. come home for dinner and back out to play hide and seek or anything but STAY INSIDE :rolleyes:
its no wonder kids today are overweigh.

Yeah, Im not too old I hope. 1966. Used to get on my bike (Schwinn Stingray) after school or on the weekend and when the 6 o'clock fire whistle rang, I had to be home for dinner. Now, kids aren't allowed to leave the distance of two houses, and with a helmet??

I especially love these:

were back when the street lights came on. No one was able to reach us

We had friends! We went outside and found them. NO PLAY DATES

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's home and knocked on the door, or
rang the bell or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who
didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.

I remember that. However times are changing. And we are closer to finding a cure for cancer then ever. AIDS... now we can help the unborn.
I cherish crashing the bike playing chicken with my brother. Or tying a sting to the back of Clydes ice-cream truck while on a Vision skateboard. How about the time when fireworks were entertaining during the summer? I remember my brother and I swashing June bugs. Hide and go seek with all the neighborhood kids. :)
Those times our great and kid these day will have different memories of fun times. Just like our parents. Gee, when you think about it. We sound just like them. At least we had electricity and indoor plumbing.
