4th of July Damage Report
:(
My wife and I got up early this morning, went and got the boat out of the geerage and trailered up to the Chesapeake for a day of fun in the sun. Didn't quite work out that way. :D :D Got to the ramp, put the boat in the water and "the Man" Maryland DNR asked us if we wanted a courtesy safety examination. We said sure, it took about 15 minutes and passed with flying colors. We also got to watch idiots putting their boats in and even saw one jackazz fall in the water. :D Fired up the engines and headed out. It's about 3/4 of a mile of no wake and we finally went to get up on plane and the port drive took a dump on me (so I thought). The good news is that it's not the drive, but the coupler. When I start the engine, the shaft isn't turning @ the back of the engine. Worse things could have happened and no one got hurt- That's boating!!! :) |
Re: 4th of July Damage Report
Looks like you will be land lock for the 4th, oh well like you said it could have been worse.

Re: 4th of July Damage Report
You still have one engine!!! We had a friend who blew a motor, took it out and ran on one, then that one chewed an impeller and now he is on the wall in Grand Haven, but he is still out there :)

We still stayed out for about an hour and 1/2 idleing around. It was just a little too rough to stay out all day. It just sucks that we towed for over an hour to get up there and break. We could have been in the Potomac which is 20 minutes from home and 2 miles from where I keep the boat. I run my boat hard... If I wanted to putt around, I would have bought a SeaRay :D :drink: :D It's all good. :) |

Mid-summer, Fourth of July weekend, . . . . amicably submitted to a DNR inspection . . . . BLOW A DRIVE COUPLER . . . didn't even get up on plane to fully enjoy the day you had planned . . . . and still can find the clouds' silver lining . . . . by GOD you are a true boater. . . . I salute you. I would have been a rabid dog. |
Re: 4th of July Damage Report
Based on my previous 4th of July weekends boating, you are much safer with the boat on the trailer.
Sorry you had problems. |

Re: 4th of July Damage Report
Craig,
Glad to lend a wrench Thursday or Friday of this week if you're gonna pull it yourself. I've pulled two motors out of the Pachanga and really glad to only have one when it comes to pulling :). Ken 202-251-9016 [email protected] |
Re: 4th of July Damage Report
Fred are you gonna bring that thing down to the beach once shes done and show these folks down here what a real boat looks like?
|
Re: 4th of July Damage Report
Sounds good, my number is listed on my posts, I'd love to get a chance to check it out. Folks down here think a performance boat is one of those little allison death traps with a 250 on it. Not that they aren't entertaining to watch, but I sure wouldn't want to ride in one.
I'll be sure to put a link to your website once i get my new one done. I'm not sure yet that I'll even have any online ordering or anything, mainly just want it so I'll have a little bit of info and an email that looks professional for my customers along with a unique "brand". it will look something like this: http://carolinaamphitheater.com/swipes/ |

Electrical issue on the port motor. A big thank you to Lenny at Millinium Marine on St. Clair for checking it out quick. Couldn't figure it out so we are down. It's raining though so I don't feel so bad

Sorry to hear about your hardship Did you fix it yourself? I've been told that I won't have to pull the engine, just have to pull it forward 5 inches or so. It's going to be hard to get anyone to fix it quickly for me, all of the shops around here are backed up big-time!!! My work schedule for the next 6 weeks is crazy hectic!!!  Suggestions anyone?? :) |
Re: 4th of July Damage Report
Hey Craig sorry about your luck buddy. I am on the way home today from the PAtuxent so I hope we will be ok. Have a good rest of the weekend. Cya

Re: 4th of July Damage Report
Had some Micky Mouse valances that hide wires come off :) Those 3s at 70 just weed out the dead wood parts and half a$$ ideas. It's called function over form :) In any case, removed them all to find I need 1/10th the valance to cover the wires ,I will attach them a new way and they will never come off again, unless you want them to of course. :) Otherwise I have pushed this thing at 4500 rpm for 30 miles non stop and never get a rise out of anything, I have done this 8 times this year, you have to get back you know. :) Clean day, it's raining. :blaster:

I imagine a chain hoist or anything would do -Unhooked the engine mounts only not even the wiring harness Pulled the engine about 5-6 inches forward and he gymnasticed himself back there changing it. -Put all back. Took about 3 hours one evening and greased the whole thing |

Re: 4th of July Damage Report
Well, our weather has been trashed. Just ducked the rain last night. It sprinkled here and poured 3 miles down the road. We got lucky but today it is 61deg and cloudy. It is COLD. Big puffy black clouds, it looks like fall here  And feels like it to   At least it is dry, saw some good fireworks last night, more tonight, this time from the boat. :) I have jackets, screw Mother Nature.

Re: 4th of July Damage Report
Knocked a rim ( tri-axle trailer with boat aboard ) on a left-turn curb-type traffic island. This action unseated the tire from the bead. Didn't have the right lug-wrench to change the tire on the spot, and had to drive it about 5 miles home.
Perfectly good tire is now RIBBONS. . . . like in a little girls hair. . . . lookin at about a buck thirty for new rim/tire. |

This website is awesome!! :) I've been entertained for the last two days by reading a bunch of threads (while the boat is down :( ) It's been great, a bunch of people have offered their help, their garages, and my friend C-Spray called us up and invited us out on their sweet Formula for today. We couldn't make it, but sure appreciate the offer!! :D I also now feel fairly educated on the subject of drive couplers and am 100% sure that's what the problemo is :eureka: I'll call some places tommorrow and see if I can get someone to do it for me. If nobody can, I'll do it myself. I've read probably 40 different threads from a 'Tech section" search and I have all of the telltale signs of the ole "coupler blow-out" syndrome. Metal shavings @ the transom and the driveshaft doesn't spin when I start the engine. I guess that I'm a little bit late in greasing that BEEOTCH. :D :D Live and learn, right? Anyway, Thanks to all ....and the next time that someone around here has their boat break, I'll be giving you a call! :) Craig |
