need new oil coolers
I am finnally getting closser to putting my boat in the water, when yesterday I went to fire the motors and I was getting oil out of the port exhaust. I bypassed the oil cooler and the oil stopped. I was having the same problem on the starboard motor, but much worse. I guess the guy I bought the boat from did not put any antifreeze in the cooling lines, and did not blow out them either, (but he did drain the blocks and manifolds). I need to find new oil coolers asap. The old cooler measures 19" long end to end and 2" in dia, they sat on the outboard side of the motors and there are 2 per engine. The engines are 468 with twin turbos that make about 550 hp. Who had decent priced coolers (since I may have to buy 4).

Re: need new oil coolers
Todd at Revolution Marine was very helpful to me...they have a 3" x 18" for $199.00. It dropped my oil temps by 60 or mor degrees. I believe their site is www.revolutionmarine.com

A single 3" cooler has more surface area than 2 2" coolers and would allow you to simplify your plumbing. Less restriction = more oil and water flow and better cooling. I got mine at Eddie Marine 200.00 ea.

I am also running an Eddie 3" cooler. When my motor ran [sic] I could run pretty much all day without my oil ever getting above 220-225 or so. Slick unit.

Re: need new oil coolers
how big is it? Will it fit where you need it to go? If so, it might be just the ticket for you.

It will fit where the old one was. I have plenty of room on the outboard side of the motors. It is 18" long and each cooler is 2" dia
