Default boyne thunder

wow, what a run. was it worth it? yes it was. first let me say that i have never been on a "real" poker run and was little uneasy about $800 for an entry fee on a first year event. but let me again say wow! dinner and cocktails at garretts on friday night was fantastic, we sat right next to and talked to some of the camp quality kids (kids with cancer) amazing kids. there was a pub crawl that night and that is my only ***** becouse somehow me and my crew where over served. sat. morning they had breakfast at lesters, lunch in bay harbor and dinner back in boyne at the park by the marina. all of it was very nice, too tired sat night to pub crawl very far though. slips were at boyne city dock, we stayed on the boat, showers were clean, gary the harbor master is great coffee and donuts in the marina.

there were 24? boats, 21 ran i think. we went to northport, beaver island, bay harbor, horton bay, back to boyne. in and out of charlevoix there were people lined up cheering the boats as they came by. in horton bay they had 11 big boats rafted up packed with people that payed $75 a head for champaine and to see us pick up the last card and put by. it was cool.

i think there were only 8 boats that made it to beaver island becouse of the waves during that leg, but the rest of the water was fantastic. by the way a 24 checkmate was one of the boats that made it.

i did not talk to one participant that did not ahve a good time, i will be back next year for sure, they only have about 45 spots for this event so i am not sure i want to talked it up to much.

oh yea they raised 48,000 from the event.

steve if masqarade comes next year can i drive down to grand haven and tend lines for the ride up?

Scott it was great to meet you and your crew, I'll talk to Larry about the dock line offer. I am sure we will be back with MASQUERADE and BLUE MOON and by next year I should have a ride of my own up there, $600 for a crew of 2 was a good buy for what you received. The food, people and area couldn't have been better by far the nicest run I have ever done. I love the silent auction that the towns people were invited to participate in which I feel helped raise so much money. Everyone heading up the run did a great job, we'lll be back. Steve
