Black Thunder is running well except for a few teething issues. We were at the Leopa poker run last weekend. It ran 70 with 8 people, full gas, coolers, etc. I'm still wrenching but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Why not freshen yours up?

Ian like I said they are cast internal motors its time to upgrade so I think I'll have some 496's built at Performance ....still looking at all the possibilities

Well then build some 540's. The cost difference is small. Just need a couple of 502 blocks.

Ian.....I thought about that but then the rest of the stuff I have would be small...heads are Merlin ovals, intake Edelbrock Rpm,carbs 800 holley.....oil coolers are stock mag coolers, it just opens up a huge can of worms. I want to get out without it costing me my first born! I really dont care if it makes a huge ammount of power it just needs to be turn key....

Your present engine set-up should be about as reliable as a stone. My last boat had 400hp 454's that I put 600 hrs on without taking off the valve covers. Accesories are going to give you trouble regardless of what the engines are. All boats require some maintanence. Maybe you should make friends with a good mechanic to take care of those instances.

I'm too tight to pay a uncertified machanic wantabe to do anything.......most of my problems have been of my own doing at assembly... This time I'll pay the pro's!Run the new ones on the dyno with all the accesories on them and have some piece of mind when I turn the key in the spring!!!
