If you are bored in September
DETROIT PRESIDENT’S CUP ADDED TO 2004 BUDWEISER UNLIMITED HYDROPLANE SERIES
DETROIT, MI (August 3, 2004) John Gysin, of the Detroit River Regatta Association, announced today that the Budweiser Unlimited Hydroplane Series will return to the Detroit River, site of the 2004 Chrysler Jeep Superstores Detroit APBA Gold Cup, for the PRESIDENT’S CUP September 18th and 19th. Gysin said the new event, which will close the 2004 racing season, will fill the dates vacated by the board of directors of the San Diego Thunderboat Regatta, who voted not to hold an Hydro-Prop/APBA event in 2004.
“We have confirmation from the White House in Washington, D.C. that the winning driver and owner will have their picture taken with the President in the Oval Office following the event, and a good possibility that President Bush will attend the event,” added Gysin.
Tom D’Eath, Chief Operating Officer of Hydro-Prop, said, “We welcome the opportunity to return to Detroit to end our 2004 season. As the sanctioning body for Unlimited Hydroplane Racing, we didn’t feel that four events were enough to crown the 2004 O’Doul’s National High Point Champion. We also have obligations to our series sponsor, Anheuser Busch, and to Speed Channel, as well as a desire for increased television exposure for our race teams and their sponsors. This event will be a win-win for all of those entities, as well as the City of Detroit and the local businesses and organizations who worked with us on the Gold Cup.”

That's great news! If it weren't for Chrysler/Jeep stepping in the races in Detroit would have been in jeopardy. As it stands there was a great race in July, A race in St. Clair, MI the 19th-22nd of this month and now the Presidents Cup.
Is this going to be the last year the Bernie/Al Little's Budweiser boats run? Any info>>?
