FO,
I'm glad you weather the storm with the best of luck. I hope others are as fortunate.

FO,
You and I got lucky today. I only hope that those of us in the path are okay.

DanB and Hugetime live in the worst areas.

Nick, we got way more than just lucky. I just hope others at least get some of our good luck. I still can't believe how close this was. I'm still shaking....

Rags talked to Huge earlier today and Huge still had his boat on the lift. If it got to 19 foot surge, he probably lost his boat. Let's hope for the best.

Just read this in an article a little while ago. WHY???

''Happy Friday the 13th,'' said Don Paterson of Punta Gorda, who tried to ride out the storm at his mobile home but got beaned by a flying microwave oven as his home was demolished. His refrigerator fell on him, and he spent the rest of the storm sheltering behind a lawnmower."

Russ .....I'd buy a lottery ticket on Saturday if I were you ....we're waiting for it now .... we expect anywhere from 60-90 mph winds ...things should be ok ...Got the 311 as high as I can get it in the boathouse ... God speed to all those in Ft Myers area ....

Deb and I missed 145 mph winds by about thirty five miles. We saw a couple of gusts to around 75/80 and some sustained around 50 or so. I cannot believe our good luck. Less than 35 miles and we'd been in 145 mph winds.

So tomorrow we take everything back off the house. All in all, it was more or less a typical good ole Florida rainstorm for us.

It was reported that parts of the south side of Charlotte Harbor sustained a 19 foot storm surge, with the rest of the harbor 13/15 surge.

35 miles made the difference on whether we lost everything or not. That was way too close for me.

Good luck to those in the center of the state who were not expecting it and are not really prepared. They will need luck also.

Looks like we will be having a little hurricane party of our own....Luckly I'm about half way between the ocean and intercoastal. I'm about 2 miles from the ocean and 3 miles from the intercoastal here at the house. Still trying to get my Nextel updated so I can get accurate GPS info but I think I'm between 10 and 15ft above sea level.
