That just sucks. As a spectator, I've always had a great time at the past shooutouts.
This summer, I've only been to the Water's Edge a couple times, and it was dead every time I went. (Which were all on nice weather weekends.) Plenty of slips empty each time.
In past years I've gone a lot more often, and the place always seemed to be much more crowded. I remember all the slips pretty much always being full, and there being dozens of boats anchored in the cove. (Gotta love the deathtrap water taxi pontoon.)
I've spent a lot more time at the Captain's Inn this year. Closer to me, more fun, and a LOT easier to dock.
T2X - I was thinking about the Dutchman too, especially since it's 5 minutes from my house. Not sure how that would work though.

Hey everyone,

We have looked at alot of other locations.

Dutchmans - limited dockage and no where to get a really good view of the boats running

Windows on the Bay - LOOOOOOOOOOOW water access into there by boat

The Old Crabbys/Windward Beach - Metedeconk gets real narrow there and there may not be enough room to spool up and then shut down

Gilford Park Yacht Club - best candidate next to Water's Edge. BBOPBRA Time Trials held there in 1980-82. We have contacted the folks there and there is a possibility for next year.

Next issue - Insurance for a Radar Shootout? Oh somewhere around $6,000. $75 x 80 boats will be a break even for just the insurance. Nevermind the $800 in trophies and other expenses. In the past the largest group of boats we have had was 50. It is a really tough event to produce.

We are always open for suggestions! And thank you for those of you that have already made suggestions. If you want them to be private, email me at [email protected]

THANKS!
