I was in Lauderdale all week. Got out on a 4pm flight, thank goodness. My partners scheduled to fly out tomorrow, were forced to drive west toward Ft. Myers for flights, with Pensacola as a backup for flights out.

Hope no one has to drive their way to Pensacola, from FTL to get out. THAT'S a jaunt, and with the traffic on I-75 going Northbound, it's a mess. Don't know about I-10, but I wouldn't want to be making that trip now.

With the storm slowing it a bit, it looks like we have a reprieve for a few extra hours before it makes landfall. Everyone stay safe over the next few days.

Mike, that is by far and away the best thing you can do. With that bow angled that high is asking for trouble I think. Full of fuel and then filling with water and then tying it down to the rack as best you can is about all you can do. Anything you can take off, obviously, take off, even antennas, etc.

The traffic over here was bumper to bumper by five yesterday afternoon. The shelteres are already filling up fast this morning. At least it looks like people are taking this one seriously. Here on the west coast of FL we had gotten kind of complacent, but Charlie was a real wake up call, for everyone. The way that storm didn't go where it was predicted was a wake up call for everyone.

Don't take chances and be careful. Best of luck to everyone.

Right now we look like we're in pretty good shape, we might see some 50/maybe 60 mph winds but unless it changes course drastically, we should be okay.

We have a spare bedroom if an OSO'er needs a place to stay, but we do have animals. 4 dogs, 4 cats, 2 birds, and a psyco killer bunny rabbit. But you are welcome if you need a place to hole up. Russ

Just got back in at 4am. Hauled azz down on Wed., grabbed the 'Gun and headed out Thurs. morning after I helped my parents.

They are buckeled up and riding it out in Deerfield Beach. They should be okay.

It took me 19 HOURS(thats right19) to get from home to Atl. It only took 7;45 to get there wed.

I think all 2.5 millions evacuees werein front of me on the highway.

The upside is I get to tear up Lanier this wknd. in the boat.

We had fish, gave them to our neighbor's little girl. She loves them. Saves us about 65 cents a week. :rolleyes:

I am at my stables out by Weston, west Ft Lauderdale. We are now getting huge gust of winds here. My house is all closed up and safe so we are riding out the storm in the guest house at the barn. We have 40 horses to try to keep safe. made ID tags for all. The barn is not the best, so I hope they all survive ok. have the laptop so I will keep reporting as things happen. Pray for the best!

Palm Beach just got a pretty good feeder band-had gusts up to 64mph. We might get a little bit a the weaker north end of that band up here in St. Lucie and minute. They're saying the next one is due in about an hour.

My parent's place is on Hutchinson Island right at the Fort Pierce inlet. Looks like they're going to take a direct hit.

The rear of the house is boarded up and I'll do the front tomorrow. At least we can have some natural light for a little while.
Boat cover is tied down as best as possible. Truck is tucked in tight on the boat's port side and as close as I dare to the garage door.
Made on last run for "essentials".......more ice and a case of beer.

My daughter, her boyfriend, and grandson will be with us tomorrow night.
She has to work tomorrow. Disney will still be open as far as we know.

All we can do now is wait.

Glad you got back. It took us 5 hrs and 40 min. to get to Orlando. Drove back home today with no traffic. I WANNA GO BOATING!!!!! :( :( :(

I am sitting in my house in Jupiter, right on th Palm Beach Martin County line. Pretty nice day sunny for the most part. We are just waiting for Francis to come. I just drove back from my sisters house and not a car on the road. It looks like a ghost town with all the houses boarded up and nothing open. Kind of surreal

Just came inside at 10:35 pm and it's as crystal clear sky as imaginable.
Barely any wind at all. Hard to believe what is bearing down on us.

This storm keeps slowing down. And the time drags on.................

My sister live in Boca Raton. They are all boarded up. She lives just East of Powerline Rd.. I guess everyone along the coast was told to evacuate. She is a single mother and has had several neighbors help get things all closed up tight.

Las Olas Isles area is a ghost town. It is eerily quiet (except for the winds and rain)since yesterday afternoon.
All my windows and doors, except for one, have been boarded up since wednesday.
Now I know what Saddam must have felt like!
Yesterday afternoon, one of my neighbors whas actually on a surfboard in the canal while hoolking up some stormlines to his sailboat, after which he was actually surfing for a bit!
We've lost the cable several times already.
Everglades inlet looks like the conditions at the start of the Miami race this year! :eek:

Most of Martin County and much of Port St. Lucie is now without power. Cyndi says there is much wind, but not really any rain right now. A couple of feeder bands they got last night were rough, although not as bad as Palm Beach County got.

Here in Tampa, there is scattered clouds and no wind. Don't think it will stay that way though - by tomorrow we will be getting pretty viscious rains I think.

Ya'll keep the updates coming that you are getting from friends and family - I know we all have people along the Eastern Florida coast that we are all worried about.

that does not sound good Cuda , I have seen the St Johns with high levels without near the rain amounts they are predicting. Be careful up there.
