Re: Latest Hurricane?

Winds are starting to pick up a little here but really nothing so far. I went out and looked at the street sign post about five feet from where I have Outlaw parked. Wiggled it by hand and didn't like the feel of it. So I sank a couple of tire irons at a hard angle as stakes, took some dock lines, and tied it off. Now it's solid as hell. Didn't want that to end up blowing over and taking a huge chunk of glass' out of the boat.

I thought about just chaining the truck to it and pulling it out, but in broad daylight the neighbors would see me and the county would probably get pissed off, so I tied it down. I feel so civic minded. :D :D

Cuda, Just a thought....

Would it help to put the 2 smaller boat as close together as possible, put a few bumpers between them then tie them both together?

Sort of making it one big unit versus two smaller ones. It just may help from one of them getting blown away with severe gusts....

We shouldn't get anywhere near that high of wind, I'm mostly trying to get them away from falling trees.

Chuck just finished another stand, it's so much sturdier than on the jack.

They are calling for 25 foot seas farther south on top of a ten foot tidal surge. There is going to be a lot of beach lost to this storm. :(

We only had one little band of rain and 25 mph hour winds through the outskirts of Tampa, about 1pm or so. Looks like Brevard County is about to get hit with a pretty bad feeder band (80-100 mph winds).

I'm all for knowing what is going on with this storm, but when reporters have to be anchored to a truck, with a rope, to do their report, so they don't freaking blow away, I question peoples sanity.

Reporter: "This is not a storm to take lightly. Take cover. Stay inside where it is safe" (as he blows out of the picture). WTF???

DRG..You aren't alone in this thought. The govenor even lit into the dramatics that some of these stations play (CBS/NBC mainly). Immediately the stations coped out and said they wanted to show the srenght of the winds.
Recently CBS even showed and it appeard they were encouraging some
A$$H-- s to climb over a fence to check out the waves..

We here in Altamonte have had just 2 minor bands lasting about 2 minutes each. The big event will most likely happen after 9pm tonight if the FAT A$$ Frances decides to move..

Take care all...God Bless..

We were on a cruise ship in the Bahamas all week. The cruise cancelled the last day and headed straight to Miami on Thursday AM. We had the choice of staying on the boat and riding out the storm with them, or leaving the ship and trying to get out of town. We caught the LAST flight out of Palm Beach at 11:30 yesterday AM.

I feel for everyone down there...it's only going to get worse. Good Luck!!

The waiting is really starting to take it's toll on everyone's nerves. Just get it the hell over with.

I just caught a blurb on the news but apparently someone in a boat was reported missing off Tampa somewhere. Didn't catch much of it but I guess the CG is looking for them.

Just now say video of the four foot rollers running down the Intracoastal near Palm Beach, boats wrecked everywhere, on top of rocks, wedged under bridges, one looks like it got thrown up into a hotel. Many many more half sunk at the docks, beating themselves apart against them. One of those scenarios it's making me sick to watch yet I can't look away. Some boats have been thrown and blown up way past the water's edge. Unfrigginreal.....

Generally boats on lifts have a good chance of survival. I have some pics from Andrew that shows complete colapse of hi-n-dry storage and a boat on a lift right next door just sitting there unharmed. Hopefully they're above the storm serge.

Waiting to hear how my parents place on Hutchinson is doing. They're about 8' above high tide.

Actually, I just talked to my sister, Things are ok a Boca. There are a few trees down, no power right now and maybe 4-5" of rain. They had some pretty strong winds though the night but most everything stayed put.

Sounds like Jupitur up to Melborne got hit the worst.
Then even if the winds slow up to 70mph as it crosses the state, it's moving so slow, it will dessimate to Citrus crop. I feel bad for those guys.

How can anyone by that moronically stupid???? If they do find him, they should take his kids away and throw his azz his jail for endangering them to that extent.

And on another note of stupidity: last night a couple decided to take a raft, yes a RAFT, out off the old "Midnight Pass" area, south Siesta Key beginning of Casey Key area. The raft started drifting uncontrollably and she jumped overboard to swim for shore. Somehow the CG managed to rescue both of them. I have no idea how the CG was even informed.

We now have two more candidates for the "Darwin Awards"....

I find it so incredible that you hear so many more accounts of total and complete stupidity than you ever hear of brilliance.

Later this afternoon they are calling for 14 to 20 foot seas. The local station just gave it's "boating forecast" and all the announcer said was "if you're thinking of going out in a boat, call 911 and commit yourself".

My father and brother are holed up in my father's house in Boca east of 95. No power since 10AM yesterday morning....nerves getting a litlle frazzled...due to boredom. A lot of trees down on the golf course behind the house. I'm going down on Tues. after my flight for today was cancelled. A friend of mine has a condo in Jupiter (Jonathan's Landing) with no shutters and an 8 month old 31 Jupiter CC stored on blocks in Palm Beach Gardens. When I go down I have to check on them...hoping for the best.

I am still going strong here... no power loss... yet... I am actually suprised that I have not lost power.... Just walked around my house.. no damage, just a few limbs down, the boat is just fine. there is not as much damage in my neighborhood that i can see compared to the last storm. I feel really bad for the people who lost their roof in the last storm, and now are getting nailed again.

Here is the situation,

About midnight it started picking up pretty bad, I was in the garage having a smoke, and the attic door was flopping up and down, so I went outside to take a look. Shingles flying off the front of the roof, but no leaks, the tarpaper held up, I only have one area in the attic where the plywood has slight moisture. SO, I go out back, and sections of fence are flapping back and forth. I go watch some more tv(we kept power, phone, and cable through the whole thing, cable just went out now). Around 2AM, it started slowing down, so I went out back, and removed any loose remaining fence panels. Wind blew through the night. My neighbor lost some of his siding, Trees, and lightposts down all over. We went out in the truck for a ride this morning, and I have tons of pics, just gota get them uploaded. Good luck to you guys in other areas of the path.

Sin-D is in Port St. Lucie also, and I spoke with her this morning. She reports basically the same thing...going stir crazy, and hot as hell, but fortunate that they have not sustained any damage to their home. She said their is lots of debris floating around, and several trees down, but no hot power lines in her area. Melbourne on the other hand, has been pelted for about 28 hours now. Haven't heard anything from anyone there since 2pm yesterday. No fatalities reported, so, no news is good news.

We're battened down here, getting ready for our share of wind and rains, which should be hitting within the hour. Stay safe all.....
