Just substitute wife for girlfriend .

When she's in the boat , we have a 10 second rule. When somebody else wants to play , 10 seconds is usually enough to prove your point

2 years ago about this time of year i held my old motor (502 procharged) at wot@8-9 psi boost 5200 rpm's for 25 miinutes coming east from mackinaw island the long way around bois blanc island in lk huron back to cheboygan. Still had stock merc oil pan but had big offshore oil cooler,passengers were giving me this look like IS HE EVER GOING TO LET UP? Blower discharge hose blew off intercooler piping about 15 seconds before i was going to back off (300 yds from where you enter the channel to come in),everyone thought engine blew when hose came off,slid hose back on,tightened it back down and IDLED in, when i yanked the throttle back suddenly (motor sounded like it let loose when that hose came off)oil pressure dropped to zero momentarily then cam back to 5 psi at idle for 20-30 seconds then came back to normal (never seen it that low!) Bearings in motor still looked new when i tore it down that winter.

My stock 502MPI I held WFO for about 35 miles trying to catch up to some people on our way to PIB.

My N/A 540 I held at 5700rpms for about 18 miles racing different boats in a poker run. The hottest the oil temp got was 220 , the motor always had what I thought was low oil pressure . Usually on a run like that it is 35-38lbs at WFO and 15 when I bring it to an idle. This the 3rd season running like that. I ringed and bearing it about 80 hours ago and everything looked fine.
