Re: Witch 22
I'd go with either the 22 Velocity or a 24 Skater.

What about the Sonic 220 Sportster? Anyone have any experience with these?
There are a couple online I've seen for sale. Cool looking interior layout, but in pictures, the bottom looks mighty flat. Are these more of a lake boat? The specs on Sonic's site don't say anything about deadrise. |

Re: Witch 22
I am surprised at the badmouthing of the 22ZX!!
I bought mine new in 1999 with a 7.4MPI. It ran 63 GPS. Bobl from FTM just recently installed an HP-500 in it. Hits 75+ now on GPS!! Rides rough? I don't think so. I bought it for the smoothness, relative to other 22's! I have driven Baja's and small Scarabs, and mine runs way smoother than they do, when the going gets a little rough... The cabin is nice and long. My wife and I fit in there just fine, and there is even a spot for a porta-potti behind the door... It is a heavy boat, though, at 3,800 pounds dry. I love my 22ZX!! There is a dealer here in N.J. that has a used 22 Sonic. (2002 I think) I have a few pic's that were sent to me. Somebody here might know the boat. I'll have to find a boat shopper to get his number. I liked the Sonic 22 but when I was in the market I couldn't find one with a Big Block Bravo. Doug

Re: Witch 22
I dont hink they make them with a big block, and probably dont need it, they have a 350 mag with a Bravo, or outboard version. There is 3 or 4 for sale, one in NJ, one at the factory, and a few others. They are quite flat on the bottom(I would say 20* or so), which is the only thing stopping me, if I were on a lake, I would own one, BUT I wanna go outside the inlet every now and then, and the Wellcraft I have now with a shallow vee just doesnt cut it out there.

For me size matters...every foot.
Check out the 24ft Baja Outlaw. It rides well for it's size. This one could be had pretty cheap. |
Re: Witch 22
The Donzi's & Sonic have one thing going for them that to me, is almost as important as the ride. I vowed never again to own a boat with a glued-in carpet. I can't stand it, and I don't think it belongs in a boat.
If it weren't for that, I would probably consider a 24 Outlaw. There are a bunch for sale within a pretty short distance from me. |
