Haven't seen any stickers about using cell phones for a couple yrs on the pumps anymore. Either way, figure I'm safer at the pumps with someone talking on the phone next to me vs on the roads with 1/2 the drivers talking on thier cell phones.

When your pumping gas in your vehicle and you lock the latch you are not suppose to get back in and out because the static can also cause a spark.

Many many years ago, up in Maine, I was gassing up my 63' Scout. At one time it had dual tanks, however one had rusted away so I only had the left side tank. Anyway as time went on the corner of that tank started to corrode and what originally was a 12 gallon tank, became a ten gallon tank and so on.

So this one time I'm gassing the ol Scout up and this just gorgous redhead comes strutting across the parking lot, short short short blue jean shorts, tee shirt and no bra, and I'm just oggling her for all I'm worth. Next thing I know the gas is everywhere, a ten foot puddle and getting bigger. I casually hang the pump back in the handle, VERY CAREFULLY, stroll into the store and pay for the gas, and just rather matter of factly told the guy at the register I apparently had a split in my hose or tank and a little gas had spilled. He looked out and about chit his drawer. "Is all that GAS", he hollered. Yep, I said. He asked me what was I going to do. I said, roll that damn Scout out of the puddle, start it, and get the hell out of Dodge before the place blows up. I suggested he might want to throw some sand, kitty litter, or something on it. I then proceeded to roll said Scout out of the puddle and away, started it, and got the hell out of Dodge. Never went back to that station and happy to report that the next time I drove past it, it was still standing.

Just goes to show you what trouble good looking women can cause.
