Question Digital Cameras

I know this is going to confuse me more then I am now but any ideas?

I'm looking for a digital camera that can take small videos and also have a zoom feature that will allow me to zoom pretty good.

A buddy of mine just bought the new Canon from Beach Camera over the internet.. 218 dollars out the door.. The thing is 4.1 megaipixel... takes movies with sound... has a usb cord for download... and ... AND... uses rechargable AA's... so you never have to worry about your battery going south and they don't make them any more.... If you put in the large memory card... and lower the quality... you can take a two hour movie... or shorter with better quality.

Capo,
I recently bought a fuji Finepix S5000. I bought it over the internet. I did my research @ dpreview.com . 10x zoom, 3.1 mp, movie w/sound. it came with a 16mb memory card. I purchased a 128mb card. The camera comes with software for windows. I added in some extra stuff and still got it for undr $500.00.

Canon makes (in my opinion) the best digital cameras on the market. There are good deals on the D60 and D30 which are the older version. D20 is their newest mid rage pro camera and takes and excelent image with the abilty to use the complete line of lens and flash systems. Photos are that and video is video should the two ever meet? Thia is a good site to compare just about all the cameras out there. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sidebyside.asp

Steves Digital Forum...the guys who are most recognized for professional camera reviews rated the Panasonic/Leica FZ-20 the best Prosumer camera. Many prosumer cameras cost over $1000.00. The Panasonic/Leica 36-420mm goes for $ 599.99. It can record video as well. I bought a 1GB card that can "tape" 20 min of video. Take 400 pictures at max fine resolution. It is a 5.36 Million Megapixel Camera. Huge CCd at 2.5" and the Leica ED glass aspherical multi-coated lens is worth more than the camera as the Leica version is double the price. You may need to stand in line to get one as they are back-ordered. It's worth the wait! I have several Nikon and Canon SLR's and by far this outperforms all of them. You can also store in a Tiff format and get 60 pictures per GB and make billboard photo quality pictures. The features are about equal to the Nikon D-70. I have both and the D-70 and this Panasonic Leica are both equally amazing. You really can not tell the difference in photos up to 11x14. Buy one and try it out. It's light weight and fun as you can just put it into the auto program mode and instantly take great shots while learning about the many additional features it offers. Expect to spend a week or two reading and practicing to know it all. It is a very sophisticated camera. Phantom.. referred you to my pictures in the above post. If you want the best rated other than a D-70 this is the one and only. The Contax is slightly better at about $ 5,000.00.

The D-70 is the overall best. The Canon Digital Rebel has several issues.
