the guy lombardo freeport race became the vince fasano guy lombardo classic in 1980 or 1 due to lack of funds.......vince became a sponsor to save the race.........this was the race where black sunday sunk at the dock because they were not hip to the 8-10 foot tide change.........the boat was thought stollen untill the tide went down you could see the white #s under the water....then the word sabotage came up......added security was instant......that night the wet pits were were alive.......guys from all walks of life were presant........then someone noticed the fayva shoes V bottom was being held down by the stern lines........case close.........mark........

Love the old pics guys....keep them coming.......I have to ask ....where in Freeport were the dry/wet pits and where did the Freeport race actually run to......? Is it me or was racing much more attainable (for lack of a better word) to the averge enthusiast then it is today. Seems like today you need to be a zillionaire to even think about it.........

leave jones beach.........out to abrose light.............around a designated check boat and home to jones inlet..............wet and dry at town dock......end of hudson canal............if my memory serves me............remember I was hit on the head!!!!!!!!!!!!.........m.m........

I think my father had the same ash tray on his boat that you had on your dash. Wasn't that the one that was filled with sand or something so it did'nt move around.

beanbag ashtray......Bobby was Race Headquarters.......at a race Bobby would have 4 teams that competed and serviced all to the max.......The hollywood guys should make a movie about him......Bobby is doing this boat stuff since the 60s............Magnum Mark........P.S.....and he is still here!!!!!
