I suppose the helicopter just happened to land and he just happened to be near it and decided to take it "for a ride" too. Are you saying he's a victim? You don't go to prison by accident. I'm very sure you don't spend 3 years and 9 months in solitary confinement because you're an upstanding person.

Its easy for everyone to sit behind the computer and point the finger. I'm guilty of it myself. I just hope that everyone here commenting has NEVER done ANY illegal drug. As far as I know, you haven't. I don't know most of you. If you have, you are guilty, too. Not the same kind of guilt, but guilt nonetheless. This person had a product and a market. A product that was in demand by and worth millions. The lure of easy money as its been said. He lived in a different time than now. It would be hard for me to understand those times having not lived them. He is serving his time or debt (as some might say) behind bars. Its hard for me to criticize someone when the exact same person you describe (minus his name) turns State's Evidence and is able to roam FREE.

I don't condone what he has been accused of . NONE of us have ALL the facts.

Yeah....that and he had Don Aronow killed.......not that that makes him a bad person though.....but hey....it was a different time then....and lets not forget....he was good to his people......

Jeffrey Dahmer was a nice guy and nice to all his victims too as he lured him to his house for dinner.

OJ, I'm sure is still a nice guy and probably very personable.

Our judicial system has decided to keep Mr. Kramer incarcerated. We are not the ones who passed judgement on him being inside and not the ones to pass judgement on him getting out.

The helipcopter attempt was a chapter right out of the Charles Bronson movie. Probably had a Randy Quaid type character in there as well (somewhere). However Robert Duval's character deserved to escape.

Re: Ben Kramer (whats in a name?)

Somehow this little thread has been passing a bit under my radar.
But now that I found it I'll offer up some thoughts.
As ExpressCat 39 summed things up. I do agree wholeheartedly with his sentiments and would add a few of my own.
In the case of our mutual friend, his is not the only penence that is being paid. The wife and the kids have suffered on without a dad and on top of that they have to put up with me visiting as a friend from time to time. That's pretty tough, and even though the best of intentions or perhaps lack of knowledge, may have been behind the mistakes that he made some one is paying the price and unfortunately it's pretty high and it is not just him toting the freight.
In the case of Ben Kramer. I missed that era and really have no reason or desire to revisit it. The fact that he killed a man who may have outwitted him in business really, really, just lowers my opinion of him even more.
I missed Don Aronow too and would have loved to have met him.. Only because I hold his creations in such high regard. Formula, Donzi, Magnum, Cigarette, Squadron 12. USA Cat, and Aronow, that's not saying I thought that he himself was a god. Maybe he was, But thanks to Ben Kramer I'll never get the opportunity to find out for myself.
Best,
Robert Shin
