cool flashligt
1 Attachment(s)
i got this flashlight last tuesday from REI. its an LED made be Princton Tec and claimed to have outstanding battery life so i thought i would put it to the test. i turned it on and it has been going for 5 days straight with no loss in brightness so far (i expect it to go for a few more days). pretty cool  thought you guys might like to check it out, might be a nice one to keep on the boat for emergancy use.

Re: cool flashligt
Some guys on OSO freak me out.
GD - thanks for thinking of us. Let us know when it dies. . . And . . . how much ? |
Re: cool flashligt
What type of batteries is it running on? D??
|
Re: cool flashligt
That looks like the same kind homeland security uses. The ones they use have a bulb in the middle then 8 or 10 super bright LEDs. Is that how yours looks?
|
Re: cool flashligt
it was 8 bucks on clearance at REI.com. its a small light with 4 AAA's . . hell D's would last a few months :D . . . . . can ya tell i'm bored  . . . oh . . . .an Roux . . . i've had a few tonight, trying to entertain myself, ran out of porn sites . . . :drink: :D

Re: cool flashligt
Dang guys, that thing will never go dead. See that electric cord?
I circled it in red fer ya. ;) |
Re: cool flashligt
I did the same thing with an led pen light after around a month it was at half its brightness.
|
Re: cool flashligt

Re: cool flashligt
If this was a live WebCam I would never sleep. . . . four 3xA batteries . . . now I don't know about the rest of you, but I will NEVER again own a non-rechargeable battery. It's almost an obsession now.
I have 36 rechargeable batteries - from 3xA to 9v. . . I plan to add more. The only kink in my habit is the availability of the Carl's Jr. Chili-Cheese Six-dollar Cheeseburger . . . Honest to GOD - there is NOTHING short of a Tommy's ( SoCal only ) that can even approach the DECADENCE of the CJ6CC ( Carls Jr. Six-Dollar Chili-Cheeseburger ). But I digress . . . any money I would not spend on the CJ6CC would be spent on 3xA batteries for my new flashlight. . . if GD can reassure us all that this SPECIFIC flashlight is worth the investment. . . only *time*. . . will . . . tell. |
Re: cool flashligt
screw it . . i'll trade ya a Princton Tec flash for one of those burgers :drink:
this may very well be the most mindless thread i have ever started . . . i been hangin around Packinair to much  :drink: |
Re: cool flashligt
I bet the girls are wondering why their "battery toys" don't last that long.
|
Re: cool flashligt
How bright is it compared to a MAG LITE???
|
Re: cool flashligt
If you need a flashlight on the boat for 8 days straight you are screwed. :D
|
Re: cool flashligt
You have a point Masher!! :D

Re: cool flashligt
I've got an LED flashlight a friend bought for me at Sears. He raves about them. He's an Electrical Engineer that has a thing for flashlights. He must have a hundred of them. Harbor Freight has two different sizes and had them on sale recently. You can check out their web site.

LMFAO :D . . . . Rob how the heck did you find this 'ol thread? The funny part is i clicked on it after reading the title and saw Gino's post and i was like "what the?" then i jumped to page one and saw it was a thread i started years ago. toooo funny. I lost that flashlight long ago but replaced it with a similar one. I like these cool head lamps these days. This one is a Primus five bulb led that only uses three AAA's. Pretty damn bright for such a small package
this technology also deserves a look though :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlYHwxO2Uu8 |

Either a recharge halogen mag. or a halogen rechargable stingerlite. Mag is about 80-120 depeding on where you get it. The stinger is about 120-150. I have 4 mags and 1 stinger. Mag is a bit big but lights well. Stinger is a much smaller version but with it being a halogen bulb it lights nice and bright just not as much area as a mag. Can i get a burger for input sounds like i need to try one.
