I will also back the statement about G running his T/S. He was the only boat I saw that day that hit the Atlantic.

i never said they cann't do it all i'm say there no comparison. i mean anything could do anything my 17 boston whaler could run it also. what i mean is that t/s hull cann't run it as well as a non step hull. and to correct what cigarette 1 said. i have never but never said that a cigarette cann't do it. there is nothing that a cigarette or apache cann't do. i just think that non-step handle a lot better in big chops, but don't turn at 65-70 mph if ya don't know what i'm doing. i hope i didn't disrespect anyone. just my 002.

Animalhouse, ok run certain step bottoms at 110 + in following seas at a 45 degree angle to the boat and tell me what happens.....the step on one side of the boat will catch on the waves before the other and wiggle the stern..you'd better correct for it, fast, and that would freak me out.

I have had my moments of weakness on this, but have decided 'll take a non step any day thanks. If I move up it will be a non stepped Sonic 42 or Apache 41, period. And yes, they won't be as fast as a stepped bottom boat and I don't care. Besides I can't afford either right now. <gg>

2 things, the latest edition of robb report has an article on the new 39, and if anybody has questions on step bottom performance in rough water, ask jassman about his rough water ride.

different conditions require different driver input no matter what type of boat you run, step or non step, hoewver differnt step bottom configurations act differently.

take cig and fountain for example. their steps curve toward the front, although that adds speed in smmoth flat water, it does create some problems turning in the rough water.

Fountain 40

Outer Limits 39

Dragon 39

Hustler 344

If you know of others please add them

There are 2 boats on that list that do not do 100 with 525,s.

During the Ft.Laud show Sandy and I had the opportunity to ride with Mike Fiore, Fred and Jason for a test ride on a Epoxy triple 525/bravo 42 OL. All I can say is... Best ride I honestly ever had going 80-84mph in 5-7 seas, and they were not rollers, this water was down right nasty. These OL are set up to run, and can definatly take a pounding. The boat when aired out landed level everytime, very impressive. No other step boat or non step bottom boat, that I have ever been on, would I have felt that secure in those type of water conditions.
