B Class was a great class to watch, my favorite. When Mr. Technology was at the pits in Point Pleasant, the bar definitely went up a notch. The MRD superboat was also one helluva boat for the A-class to contend with.

Damn,

You guys are talkin old school from 1996. The last race I won was 1993 then back to 1991, 90 and 89. I am feeling REALLY old!!!

Those really were the good old days though. Good times, Good times.

Still, It's amazing to me how much has changed, a ton is still the same.

At least APBA is paying for their finishes now, when we raced we never got payed!

REALLY old Whirlygig!!!!

Didn't you also run in a Fountain under the same name?

If so, I raced against you in those same years....

Definately the good old days.... :drink:

Sharkey,

I drove the Hippie. The guy that sponsored the boat moved on to race with Jim Hallet in the old Hallet Signs fountain which he changed to "Great Lakes Caster". I retired when the old "Wave Hippie" retired.

After a crack in my L5 I figured I was going to end up in a wheel chair. I still miss it though.

I loved the "B" and "A" class boats. To this day I think those were the best classes. SuperV was cool to with the blower motors.

I'm not sure but I think the cylinder heads and cam on the Instigator boat during the last "B" race in St. Pete were done by a friend of mine , Ron Sharp. He was doing most of Griffins head work and cams back then.
Ron Sharp also did the motors and heads and was the navigator on the Ken's Oil boat .

Remember the Aqua tread boat ? The owner of that boat used to work at the same company I did .

Jeff,

Ask Joe S. and Garry Guido if they remember this boat?? It's my dads old boat, Joe and Garry were always chasing my father around sheeps head bay.

30' Fino build by Magnum in FL. It had 454's I think they went .030 over and had twin turbo's, 600 hp. back in the late 70's early 80's.

Note, the boat named after Dee.
