Playcraft is the company that pretty much made the term "performance pontoon" a reality, when they designed and pattened some fins that are welded the full length of the logs to provide lift, so it gets on top of the water. I don't have a new one with the twins, but my old '98 with a single 200 EFI runs 50 MPH GPS with two people in it. Now it won't handle the huge 6 footers but here at LOTO with lots of rought chop it does great. Once up and running the fins besides providing lift, also keep the boat smooth, but resisting movement up or down. Of course all the pontoon mfgrs. are now copying the design to compete. Actually one hellova ride.

Elkhart – A pontoon company has sped its way into the Guinness book of world records. Forest River has been building a twin motor Odyssey boat with one thing in mind: breaking the speed record of 73 miles per hour.
With some revving of the engine, the boat became the world's fastest pontoon boat. 77.9 miles per hour is the record breaking speed, reached on the St. Joseph River.

That is some cool chit!! The man that holds the speed record for a pontoon is named Brad Rowland, This may have been surpassed but this was in a Poker Runs mag
