Re: Speed Limt Law on Winnipesaukee!!!

Early this am I e-mailed back and forth with the sponsor of the bill, Jim Pilliod, he claimed was asked by the marinas to pursue the law. Well, there were marinas present and not one was in favor. The one marina that went unmentioned (Fay's junk yard) did not bother showing up, a lot a vague references to wakes and reckless operation, nothing related to speed. When he was done he walked out  , then the actual owners of the marinas made their case along with an attorney, local residents and a bass fisherman.
The best is when the director of MP gave his point of view. There is no need for the law along with no way to enforce. Some reps tried questioning in a way that would implicate speed, he held his ground. the best is when a resident, the one opposed, went on and on about how is frightened to go out in his 21 foot boat. You'd think the mafia (sound familiar?) was waiting for him on the water. He went as far to accuse a MP for coming to close to him at a high speed. A rep baited him and asked if he found offshore'rs to be arrogant, he then said we are a bunch of young and rich people with no respect for anyone. It was over for him soon after, the more he spoke he got many laughs from the gallery. There is a sub-committee later today but based on the testimony its dead. The next time we see the MP's we should all wave and say THANK YOU!! We would have saved a lot of time if it ended after the directors testimony.

Rattlesnake Gal here, (the trouble maker who stared the poll on the other fourm) tried resigning up yesterday under my normal name, but for some reason I can’t log in that way. I even got the confirmation e-mail. Perhaps it is because I used the same e-mail address?
Anyway, I have been dropping by every now and again under this name, but have not posted. Not because I’m chicken, but because we do not own an offshore boat. I enjoy ALL boats and am lucky to have a great vantage point to see a lot of them. Maybe one day I will get the pleasure of being a passenger on one of these amazing machines. (With an experienced captain that is.)
I would like to reiterate what I posted over on the other forum. The opinions and antagonistic views of a few forum members are just that, their opinions. You really shouldn’t lump us all together. I am starting to get offended! LOL. ;) We have a large number of wonderful members, as do you. Many people stay away from hot debates so they don’t get stuck in the mire.
There is definitely room for both forums. One being tame and one for a walk on the wild side, having a choice is a grand thing. It’s what the USA is all about.
Keep in mind certain people (you know who I mean) love to spar in a good intellectual debate and will do anything to get their fix. My advice it to just ignore him. Responding rewards bad behavior.
Lastly, be nice to the Webmaster over there, he is a great guy. Remember it is his prerogative to implement his vision of what his website should be. E-mail him if you have a problem with your membership. He is a fair man.
Okay, one more last thing, well maybe two. Some of the photos on this site are simply amazing! (I am such a picture junkie.)
And Wahoo on the speed limit thing!
Does this post make me a MafiOSO? :evilb:

Against the wall dark overcoat, dark shirt and tie. I didn't come prepared to speak but wish I had taken notes when Rep Pilliod made his out of the blue claims and alleged stats. Every single one was easily defeated and I think he knew it, its why he left in a hurry. You kinda threw me when you told the rep ( he-like most of them didn't have a clue about boats) that your boat slides for 150 feet before it comes to a stop. Glad it was late! Anyways, your right, by the end not much left to say. So much for all the belly achers on the other site - none showed.

Welcome Rattlesnake Gal , I too am a regular on the Winni site( under my real name) and also make the 400 mile ride from South Jersey occasionally.Been on the lake since I was a kid( too long ago).
We're really a pretty good bunch over here regardless of what I.R. , Madrasahs or Acres per Second say. I am convinced there is something MAJORLY wrong with a person who changes there name all the time. With all due respect , perhaps he is just too big an a$$ hole to be just one person :D :D :D
I love the way he will quote PART of what we say only to use it against us , where if the WHOLE thing was read it would sound entirely different. I wouldn't be suprized to see what CMG said about us dirty old men appear over there minus the "just kidding" part. .
Ther's a lot of good information to be had here. Once again welcome aboard ;)

Hey CMG.. I just tell it like it is. someone stated that a boat comes to a stop fast when you let off the throttle. Well that just aint always true. If I am at wot and cut the throttle thats what happens with my boat. Was trying to make the point that awareness of your surroundings is the most important factor but guess I was just a little nervous. Did ya catch where Rep. Pilliod said some boats can go from on end of the lake to the other in 7 minutes. I wanna ride on that boat. Which one of you guys wants to prove that statement is true for me?

Lake Winnipesaukee is 28 miles long and 13 miles wide, and covers 72 square miles.

Correct me if I'm wrong but that would mean someone on the lake has a boat that does 240mph. You can rule mine out. Now if he didn't exagerate so much, XXX did visit last year and he's in the 160mph neighborhood!

Well, there were some pretty interesting posts on Winnipesaukee website, especially the person who said there is "no rational reason to be going over 45 mph". I'll bet people said that about cars in the early 1900's. That person needs to get a ride in an offshore boat. One ride, and the thrill that goes along with it, would probably change his mind forever. After my first ride, I now feel sorry for people with slow, boring lives. They need to learn how to have fun. Life's too short to do otherwise.

Yeah, that was the same nimrod who stated the only reason to go over 45 mph was "for the thrill".

In this Forum I said if that was the case, that having a thrill in life was a bad thing, they ought to toss the guy in a box, throw him in a hole, and shovel the dirt on him. One of the weenies hijacked the thread from here and posted it over there. Guess some of them thought I was being a mite rude. :D  :D

Wow! 100% of your posts (both of them) are funny, witty, and well-done. You've got to be a hoot to hang around with. Welcome aboard OSO. You don't have to have an offshore boat to be welcomed here, just an appreciation for them. Most of us are happy to give people rides, especially if we are going out anyway. BTW, what's the story with the rattlesnake?

B8tcaster: Where I come from, if your bass boat doesn't do 80 mph, your engine must be broken. (Most of us non-fishermen never knew bass were that fast  ) There really are very few offshore boats that can do 80 MPH, and many that can't do 70 MPH, but don't tell the other boaters, because we don't want them to know how slow we really are. The difference is we can maintain those speeds in rough water where most other boats can not.

240 MPH to get from one side of the lake to the other? What was Miss Budweiser's top recorded speed?
