Cool vid. I miss my 19!!!
Hi guys just found this site, I have a 1996 U-17 with the 5.0 FI with the Volvo SX Cobra drive I got a few years ago. Just dropped it in a week ago, and the boat has a very high rpm now in neutral. My tech is telling me I have to find someone with the tool to adjust the rpm. He does not know anyone to adjust the rpm.
Need help!!! Would love some help from one of you guy
Thanks

I also just found this site and you can add one more U-19 owner on this forum. It's just the 5.0 with a single prop, but I can get about 65 out of it on a good day. I bought it new as a leftover in 97 and it has been a pretty dependable boat. Can't say much about the gauges though. Especially the trim gauge. I've had a lot of trouble with it since it was new. The dealer repaired it under warranty and it hasn't been right since. Then a few years ago I noticed the trim sensor wires were chewed up so I had an OMC service center order one, which was quite a circus as it has a swim deck so it also has a separate limit switch in the sensor I was told. After reading this forum I see maybe that's not quite correct. The mechanic went through quite a training session gathering information on it and months later he put it in. It worked for a few days and then quit again. By almost a years time I realized I ate the price of the sensor and it hasn't worked since. I tried swapping gauges as a long shot, and got what I figured - Nothing. Anyone else had this problem? If so, were you able to remedy it? Any input will be appreciated.
Also, I want to get a better prop if possible. I've read about the Fury which sounds good but the lowest pitch I can find available for it is an inch higher than the stock 23 that's on it now. That may work out ok though. Anyone tried one? Any other possibilities now? I'd like to see a couple three mph more if I'm going to spend the money.
I don't care for the play in the steering on it but I can still say chine walking is not a problem with this boat, even though I'd like to tighten the steering up a bit. Maybe that's because I owned a 20 ft Switzer with a 235 Evinrude for many years before that. That was alot tougher to master.
One more thing - Has anyone changed their control lever yet? Mines getting sloppy. I looked at a Livorsi setup, but are there any better ones than that? Do you have to change the cable with it? Very glad to find this website.
