I own a U-19 with a 351w ford slightly modified, and a SX outdrive with a 14 1/4 " 23. the boat runs just under 70.

Default Fourwinns U17 Super Clean & Mint

I have a MINT 1996 U17 with a 4.3 Vortec, and an Edelbrock mid rise and the OEM 2bbl carb. 57mph, super quiet, and runs all day on a tank of fuel. Way... too much fun. We use it to lure our 22&23 year old kids home to visit....LOL.
We are going to be selling it however...Too many toys....

So if you want a museum piece, here it is... email me for photos

With the 5.8 I assume it's a 1996. Those are great boats! Takes a bit to figure out the chine walking but once you do that little boat will rip through some snot!

What info you looking for? I've been around them since 1995.

Well, My wife and I were on Hardy Dam river last night. The best I could get out of the GPS was 61.5. I was trimed up to a good point and running around 4700 RPM. The Boat has the Volvo DP F9 props that have been reworked (Thined on the edges) I did notice at slow speeds 20mph to 35mph with 4 people in the boat. It wants to ride on one side or the other. If I turn the wheel to make the boat ride up right it it turning a little. If I run faster that 35 it is fine. I did notice that some times, When I am up and running and push the gas down and trim up at the same time. The boat falles on its face then comes back and runs fine. So I guess the questions are, 61.5 on GPS with the DP and 5.8 119houres on boat. Is 61.5 sound about right? it sound a little slow. and the leaning problem with 4 people at slow speeds. Any Help would be great. I live North of GR in Michigan

Sounds like you need to trim it up a bit more. Boat will run 65-66 with two people so I would guess 62-63 loaded up. You're not too far off. A friend has one with labbed F9s and he runs high 60s with the 5.8. When you get it trimmed right the boat will lighten up and start chine walking a little. You need to "bump' the wheel to the left every few seconds to keep it from chine walking.

The boat will also lean at mid-range when trimmed in to far. Trim it out to avoid this.

As far as the stumble you may have a clogged injector??? Just a guess. if you ever make it up to Torch or the Bay let me know!

When I got the 61.5, I has about a half tank of gas + 350 lbs for me and my wife and a cooler maybe 30 lbs. I trimmed it up to a good point. When it is all the way down and start trimming up you can feel the boat lift to the sweet spot. The boat has volvo F9 props. Is there anyone who makes good duro props? Or am I stuck with Volvo and a $1200 bill when I need new ones? Thank you for the tips. I will try them out this Friday

You're stick with the Volvo props unfortunately. The good news is they repair pretty easily. If you can get on a long stretch trim it out until you lose a little speed than bump it back down. Does it chine walk side-to-side at all on you?

I have had boats my for the past 12 years. My last boat was a 20 ft Taylor LP with a 350 mag and NOS. 64 MPH and 78 MPH with a 75 HP shot of NOS. I worked at Michigan Wheel for 13 years doing Prop repair. The Props I have have been reworked Many times and are thin. I could be getting some blade flex causing me to lose a little speed I guess. The boat dose seem to chine walk at 60 and trimmed up but not too bad if I dont hit any waves. I posted a video on you tube. The title is called Four winns unlimited 67 mph hardy pond . The speed says 67 but it is closer to 62 on GPS. I am going back up there this Friday to do a little more testing. Thank you

Nice vid. I owned one of these boats with an SX drive and been around them since 1995. The hull will chine walk when trimmed out, especially on flat water. It took me awhile to figure the "bump" of the wheel out.

Also, those VDO tachs are known to be off. I was trimming mine to 5000rpm and was disappointed with the speed. My friend that has owned one for years jumped in and pulled 5 more mph at 5600 rpm. I learned a valuable lesson that day. Trim for speed, not rpm. LOL
