Power Joke Magazine poll: Subscriptions ??

Not to start too much chit, but everyone saying that they buy it to help support our sport/power boating. I hope you realize when PB runs save the Manatee adds they are KILLING our sport in FL, Yea for all the non FL boaters PB help support a group that would like nothing better than to see all water areas closed to powerboats!
Out of touch, that is what PB is.

I still get it but I will not renew. I am tired of the same old stuff. The tech. section has also gone a little down hill, then is much better info here.

WATERFOWL...I completely agree with you. The pics are cool, but everything in the magazine is just so unrealistic to me. I could never afford the boats in there. My favorite part of powerboat mag is reading the classified ads in the back, and even those boats are mostly over $200k. The tech section is ok, but not big enough, and there's no pictures in it. I'd much rather hang out on OSO where we talk and show pictures of the problems or the boats, and you get advice from more than one person. The only problem is I can't read through OSO when I'm on the chitter!!! Thats the only time I really read PB, and for that reason I may keep my subscription.

Whoa there a minute.
PB has been around and very supportive of our sport for years.
Jerry Nordskog, and his dad before him, are and were very decent people. Bob Teague is the most knowledgeable tech editor in existence. The print quality is superb and the boat tests are thorough. In addition Poker Run and Offshore Race coverage is of the highest level.
The problems?
1. Reduction/elimination of other race formats (tunnels, inboards, Unlimiteds, Stock outboard..etc). This is a major blunder and really reduces the level of interesting things to read about.
2. Too many boat tests of the same type of boats, which obviously caters to the hull manufacturers (advertisers) who pay the bills. The result is the magazine has become almost a catalog.
3. Occasional Silliness...."Look at me! I can't use a wrench" is becoming played out and adds nothing to the magazines credibility. The misguided belief that boaters relate to nonsense is not a winning formula.
4. Limited personality....... The magazine seems to have no real sense of humor, nor any desire to fully detail hot topics (safety failures in racing systems, political interplay, boat company bankruptcies, unpaid race sites...etc)...either editorially or in news summaries.
The solution?
Give me a monthly column..........
