The accident of which I speak was last third of July and I know because I was the third boat on the scene. You must be referring to another boat accident. See, you are at it again calling me names when you assume you know what your are talking about.

The 7 minutes to Center Harbor was told to me by a close friend last week who quoted a neighbor as bragging about doing it. I did not read it on the forum. I suppose that it would take about 12 minutes at 80mph.

It appears that the whining is yours . I am just expressing an opinion based of the information I have at the moment. Remember, I wrote the legislators against this bill in January, only recently changing my position based on new information from a few people I trust who live with the results of high speed boating in front of their homes.

I am sure I would like a ride in a very fast boat. I have a very fast snowmobile and really like that. This does not mean I do not like boats speeding in close confines. I am not trrilled by the jet skiers 30 feet off my dock, yet would love to own one.

As for a few whiners getting their way, I am with you. I see all sorts of legislation made by a few who spout sound bites that everyone is supposed to follow, gun control, global warming, to name a couple.

As for being moderated, I do not know what goes on behind the scenes of being shut out. I don't control it nor do I have input. I can tell you that the webmaster has been doing this a while does not tolerate the verbal attacking or threatening of another member or himself. I came here to see what all the hoopla was about. As I keep getting attacked and called names I can begin to understand why some of you are shut off. If you are using the same attitude with the webmaster I can see why he would not want to deal with it.

I am sure you love your boats. I love mine, though it is a tad slower than most. There is nothing l love more that being on the water in any type boat. Your passion is admirable, but your aggressive stance might be taken the wrong way by some.

So attack me again, I can take it. I am just stating the facts as I know them, not from some twisted agenda. God knows we suffer too much from twisted agendas this liberal haven in which I live.

I would be interested to know what it is that your friends said that made you change your stance on the issue.

As for the moderation over there. I would not mind so much if the rules were applied evenly across everyone. We were called "A-holes" yesterday by a member, something that I am fairly sure that non of us have done. I also have a problem with being punished for what you say on this site then they moderate you for it over there. The two sites have nothing to do with one anohter. That is like Don saying you went to a porno site so I am not going to let you on mine any more. WHY!! The fact that we loose our minds because they post so many lies over there, well I am sure you understand. It is almost as bad as me telling you that your screen name is not Matawanakee and then you saying yes it is and me saying no it is not. Nothing that they have put forth says anything about the facts of the issue.

PS sorry if it seems a little harsh on you right now but you are on "the other side" and a new guy on the block. You will find that this site tends to be a little harsh on the new guys in town to begin with. Consider it cyber hazzing Stick around, check out the Tech area you will find that a lot of good information is talked about. You will find that in most of the accident threads we show a real concern for what is going to happen to our insurance and what is going ot happen with laws, and we have very little tollerence for people that do stupid things that effect all of our images. The gentalmen that spun out the boat on Winni last year was called a moron by most on this board.

So that would put your neighbor's buddy's boat at what, approximately 150 mph? And you just took that as fact?
Personally, I would have done some quick math to see if what was being discussed was even possible before posting, not just take someone's word for it. Particularly in light of the nature of the beast.

So you have "changed your position" based on new information from friends who you trust who have to live with the results from GFBL boats in front of their homes. Yet you don't appear to share this "secret" information. Sounds more to me that friends of yours don't like the GFBL's and to stay in "good standing" with your friends, you've flipflopped on the issue at hand. So what are the "results" your trusted friends are having to live with?

I absolutely defy you to find one single post that I personally posted on the Lake Winnie Forum that should have sent me to the penalty box. Like I've said time and time again, when I'm in YOUR sandbox I'll play nice, but when I'm in MY sandbox I may not play quite so pleasantly. And to get tossed "into the box" in YOUR Forum for something I posted in THIS forum was wrong, in my opinion. And while I completely agree that this is "public information", my posts here were still "stolen" from members in YOUR forum for no other reason than to try to discredit anything I was stating. Had absolutely NOTHING to do with what was being discussed, it only had everything to do with trying to make me look bad. And sorry, that pissed me off. Those members that did that could not refute anything I was stating, so they resorted to that. LOSERS!!!

Your, as long as anyone else's, opinion is welcome here. Just be prepared that if we don't share it, we'll let you know.

One last thing, some of the posts in this Thread that you don't find attractive are FAR LESS than what people did to me in your Forum. Unfortunately for them I LOVE a good fight.
Guess it goes back to my "Lady Bing" days. (that line was for you Masher.... )

Speed limits, no rafting zones, conservative New England crap. Glad I don't live there anymore. Go join the local Quaker revival group and pray for 1950's to return...

Guys, arguing with these folks is about as productive as banging your head against a moose's, or eating deer crap for lunch. You won't change their minds on much of anything, so don't bother.

Exactly that is why they got this email from me this am:

Please remove my membership from your site. I have tried to put up a number of posts in the past few days and they have not shown up. I can only assume that you have decided that they do not fit to your standard. Even ones that have nothing to do with the speed limit have not shown up. I will not be a member of a site that does not show its members at leaste the curtousy of a warning if they think that we are not on track. You have choosen to target people with the "GFBL" boats to moderate much more so then other members that you have. Some members tell blatent lies just to evoke reactions from us and when they get the reactions you moderate us! I have decided that due to the fact that you have choosen to moderate me with out a warning, or even a explanation as to why after many emails to you, that I have zero interest in your site or your agenda. So please remove me and my posts as soon as possible.

Thank You
Jon

I suggest that the rest of us do the same. Why should he benifiet from our member numbers.!!! I am sure that APS will love the fact that he can run willi nilli all over the board and say what he wants with out any sort of checks and ballances. Can you believe that tool actually said that a boat was jumping 70 feet in the air and thought that was ok..... They can run the site how ever they want. If they want to live in fantasy land that is fine with me but the world is moving forward and life will leave them behind.

Score one for Acres per Second . Keep ypur blood pressure down Jon. I'm moderated too...why? damned if I know. It , again , must have been something I said here , like APS needs a smack up side the head (Which I honestly think he does). I was warned last year for asking APS (then Madrasahs) if he would like some cheese to go with his whine . I thought it was rather cute and funny because all he does is whine about "go fasts" no matter how the thread starts out.
Matawnakee spilled the beans that he(or she) doesn't want a jetski 50' off their dock(must be a lake front owner). We all know the the lake front owners also own the lake...right ?
"APS" , "Madrasahs" , and " I Remember" (all the same person) has quoted PARTS of what I've said to make it appear dfferently the it was actually stated. Now that pi$$ed me off .
Perhaps if I had the money for lake front property I would be as big a PIA as they are. But I don't so I'll just have to stay my lovable ol' self

You are correct. I should have done the math first.

So here is what changed my mind. If you know the southern end of winni, there is an island called Little Mark at the mouth of Alton Bay. Travel from there NW past Treasure Island and Sleeper's, with the West Alton sandbar on the left, then out to Diamond Island.

This is a some what narrow area, heavily populated with homes on the island and the mainland. Two marinas spill into the area as well. On a summer weekend the sandbar is filled with boats anchored for the day. Some places here are quite narrow. Some of it is protected from the wind so there is water-skiing as well. The distance from Little Mark to Diamond is about 4 -5 miles.

Boats will start at Little Mark and open it up all the way to Diamond, then turn around and come through again. I have been told the speeds appear to be over 60.

This is dangerous and loud for the families that live there as well as the not so experienced boaters out for a day. Sorry I can't legislate away new boaters.

I live near the wider portion of the lake so a boat going fast, just comes and goes.. If the wind is right, I do not even hear it. However if someone was 300 ft. from shore going back and forth at high speed it would be pretty annoying and dangerous as I make my way from my dock out into the broads. The friend who told me this is typically conservative, so I was quite surprised to hear of his support for the bill. I did argue quite a bit against it.

In the end I tried to picture what that must be like to have a very fast machine appear out of nowhere so to speak. It was a bit scary to me. I then thought of what part if any of a speed limit would I support. I do think the nighttime one should be higher. I do not know what 45 feels like on the water, so maybe 45 maybe 50, I am not sure. 80 is unreasonable on winni in my opinion. Perhaps you can tell me what is reasonable.. is 45 reasonable on Lake George. Having been there I can picture how narrow that lake is. What about the other large lakes with limits... how high are they and are they reasonable? My friend asked the question, am I against speed limits on the roadways. No I am not. The 65 souped up mustang that goes past my house in a subdivision at 40-50 is going too fast for the area. I can live with highway restrictions, although 55 is too slow on some IMHO.

So in the end.... it is a tough call between personal rights and freedoms and the rights of others. It is what makes us a wonderful country that we can have this open dialog and come to some consensus. You will continue to fight for your rights and others for theirs. I would suggest that good humor and gentle prodding work so much better than bullying.

So Audiofn, who are you hurting when you unregister? APC will miss you. As I said before most people I know just ignore him or block his posts so we can go back and learn about our lake, look at pictures and long for iceout!

Thank you for taking the time to read my posts.
