I have always used the pump that screws on to the top of the quart of drive oil. This year I decided to switch to Redline and the pump doesn't fit the Redline quart bottles.

What else is everybody using?

I made a pump from a 5 gallon bucket and an automotive gear lube pump. Works great.

I've adapted my Jabsco reversible oil changer to the hose/adapter from the Merc ' ketchup' dispenser that screws into my Speedmasters. Flip the switch and 8 quarts goes in in 15-20 minutes.

I just use a 1" longer tube that goes into the bottle and hold the pump body and lube bottle with one hand while pumping with the other. (No wise cracks)

Same thing can be done by just placing the pump on the gear lube w/o actually screwing it on and pumping out 1 /2 of it, then cutting the neck of the bottle off to reach the bottom of the bottle.

I have found checkmates method to work the best you just have to be carefull cuase if you pump to fast with the bigger pump you can blow the quad seal. it should take two ciggarets to fill a bravo(yea I use ciggerates as a timing device ) but for you non smokers tht about 8 minuits.

I use a garden sprayer, with a piece of tubing connected to a 3/8" bolt with a hole drilled thru it. Fill the sprayer with my special blend (dedicated to drive lube, no gardening in it's future) and pump it up. Screw in the bolt to the lower unit, push on the tubing and squeeze the trigger. I use a tie wrap to hold the trigger on, then go do something. Maybe pump up the sprayer once or so. Walk away again,, see puddle of oil running out the top vent and scramble to get the plug in. It goes in slow enough to not cause problems.. Works pretty good. I did buy a metal garden sprayer, have used it for several years..

I was thinking of buying a brand new (clean) painting type bucket from Home Depot, dumping the oil in and then using the straw attachment that comes with the hand pump to pump it out. I am concerned about dust particals that always seem to make it into a painting bucket.

Will this work or should I be concerned with dust particles that might get in the bucket?

I will be working in a warehouse with no wind, but there is always dust and stuff flying around when you move.

something with a sealed top is defenitly a better idea becuase that way you can buy your oil in 5 gallon buckets, pour it in a be good for a while. I wouldn't get too concerned with dust particles flying in while your using it unless your working in a machine shop or something, it's just storage that would kinda suck. you could put a lid on the bucket when you were done but then you have that nasty pump to deal with.

Is there any chance of getting air into the drive and causing problems if your using a hand pump and it sucks air once in a while? Or will it self bleed out.

If you get an "air pocket" it's like vapor lock...some parts may not receive lube...
