Need forged pistons for 454 .030 oversize
#1
Well, I brought my 454 mark 4 magnum down to the machine shop yesterday. This was block and crank. I had hoped that it would not require a bore, but it appears it does.
My question is... Is Summit racing the best value for forged pistons? I don't want to go radical with compression, I would like to keep the mild dome so I can run on pump gas. I have Gen VI heads so I assume that they are 118 cc.
Does anybody have a good set or two? I have not brought the 2nd engine down, it will likely need the same deal.
Thanks much.

Ive been using the L2399F+.030 pistons from speedpro. I usually get them in the engine rebuild sets from Summit for around $500 which is a good deal when the pistons alone are $400. Im in need of a set now also for another engine build. Let me know what you find.
