Best $18.94 oil and filter change....
I was asked what is the best oil and filter that gives excellent protection at a good price. Well after a couple hours of research here it is you cheapskates (just kidding)
Either Castrol Synthetic Blend 20W-50
OR
Quaker State HP Synthetic Blend 20W-50
Both are equally good...both outperform the best 20W-50 conventional oils of any brand and both retail for $2.99/qt
$2.99/qt x 5 = $14.95 per engine
A/C makes the best pleated paper oil filter and costs $3.99;
for the "short version" part # A/C 454 or "tall version" part # A/C 1218.
Oil plus filter:
$14.95 + $3.99= $18.94 per engine
Twins = $18.94 x 2 = $37.88 (about 1/2 the price of using Mobil-1 oil and filters. Even I could take a second glance at this as not everybody truly needs synthetic oil.
Nothing but going up to the fully synthetics can beat these oils. You could use this oil with a Mobil-1 oil filter as well.
M1- 111 is the "short" and M-1 301 the tall. They go for
$ 10.99 ea.
So there you have it....these oils both out spec. Kendall; Castrol GTX 100% dino juice etc....for about 50 cents a quart more. You can use them all the way up to an 1100 HP engine if you wish. They outperform conventionals by about 20% due to the partial synthetic base mixture and a very good additive system in both.
If I used this combo I would see no problem going out to 50 hours on stock engines if the manufacturer offered that as an option.

Mine holds eight.
Which spec? What are you basing your facts on? Aren't most blends only 15-20% synthetic? How exactly do these oils "outperform" dino? On extended oil changes? What about 20 hour changes?
