How to put a new impeller in Raw Water Pump??
#11
Any kind of gasket dressing needed for the assembly of the housing??? Or do you just clean off all the surfaces and put back together?? I would think something would be used.
ZOG, thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to keep an eye on the bolts....

Loosen your belt, take your hoses off, mark one so you know wich one is on top and bottom (I have tape around my top one), remove the entire pump. Unbolt the pump so that it comes apart. Remove old impeller, change o ring (clean off sufaces and regrease new o ring) and metal gasket. Grease impeller (grease works best and will not hurt anything), install while holding pulley and make sure pulley turns CLOCKWISE. Bolt housing and pulley back together, install in boat. Attach water lines, reinstall belt, hook up to garden hose (earmuffs) and make sure it works. Takes me about 30 minutes tops. You can do it on the water, all the bolts are 9/16 I believe, screw driver for your hoses, 3/8 or 1/ 2 drive square drive for your tensioner pulley(I can't remember). One ratchet and one wrench will do the job on the pump.

Also, don't tighten the hose clamp to tight. The housing is made out of plastic. I ended up cracking mine. I would also carry a spare housing. It doesn't take to much to burn groves in the pump housing if there is no water.
