Drive and speed question
I have 29 Outlaw with HO's and was getting 5200 at 78 on GPS....Recently had one drive worked on and during the process they switched the drives from one side to another to check something out (long story)....They left the drives switched which they indicated was no big deal....Bottom line is that both drives were off the boat at one point.... I'm now getting about 4900 and 74.5 GPS. 26P Bravo's......This is loss of 3 or 4 MPH with same conditions, load, etc...The drive indicator is showing one drive slightly higher than other at full down.....I'm wondering if they placed the stop in the wrong spot which is causing the drives to not work as well together, or if they didn't align the drives correctly, or????? Another 29 poster on the board had a similar problem....While 3 or 4 mph isn't the end of the world, it sure bugs me.......thoughts guys?

Re: Drive and speed question
Do you have mechanical drive indicators ?
if so, the spacer in the rear of the drive being
flipped around will have no effect on the indicator.
( the indicator reads off of trim cyl. movement)
On mine, the piece that fits on the anchor pin
( that activates the indicator actuator) fits somewhat
loose on the anchor pin, I've had to "finess" it to
get it to be in syn. with the other side.
Being the drives we're off, and this is
when the problem started, I'd be looking at
things related ( alignment, spacer position)

Re: Drive and speed question
I would assume that your bravo drives were set up to be counter rotating as they are in most twin engine boats. Switching the drives from one side to the other will reverse the direction of the rotations. Either your drives were originaly set to have both props turn in or both turn out. check with your builder, on some boats this can have a significant affect on speed and performance. If this is the case, go back to the people who did the work and make them switch the drives back over to the original installation.
