Thanks All,
I run 87 octane all the time. It is more of an annoyance than a problem, I am a clean freak and like my boat spotless at all times. Ya, Go figure

. I will start with the air screws & timing that will be easy enough. Are there two or four screws per carb?

If Carb Is Vacum Seconds,the Should Only Be 2,if Carb Is A Double Pumper,you Will Have 4 On The Metering Blocks,2 ON ONE BLOCK,2 ON THE OTHER

Sounds to me like you need to increase the low speed bleeds. If you open them up a couple thousands youll be soot free with better throttle response and a cleaner idle.
