Electrical problem installing 496 HO
I have almost completed the swap from my old 7,4 L 330 hp to a new 496 HO. I ran into problems when I hooked up the wiring harness from the instrument to the motors socket. All that worked was the fuel pump. I was told that it would work but it didnīt. Inside the motors socket it is numbers 1-10 for each stud. Does anyone knows what is connected to each stud?? It would help me a lot to figure out what is wrong!
I have spent a couple of hours searching on the internet but havenīt found anything.
Hope You guys can help me out!
Thanks!

Re: Electrical problem installing 496 HO
I have a diagram from the MPI motors. I'm not sure if it is the same. PM me your email address and I will send it.
I went from a 454 MPI to a 496 HO and it plugged right in, no problems.

Re: Electrical problem installing 496 HO
I have just done a swap from a 454 Mag carb to a 454 Mag MPI without any problems. I would think the 496HO should be the same. I will try and describe the pins:
Pin 1 - black wire - Ground
Pin 2 - Grey - Tachometer (ignition pulses)
Pin 3 - Tan - Water temperature sender to gauge
Pin 4 - Tan/Blue - Oil pressure switch/Water temperature heat switch/Drive oil float switch - Alarm
Pin 5 - Purple - Ignition switch
Pin 6 - Red/Purple - Fused wire from battery (battery voltage 12V)
Pin 7 - Yellow/Red - Starter switch to starter solenoid to neutral start switch - (start position of ignition switch)
Pin 8 - Light Blue - Oil pressure sender to gauge
Pin 9 -
Pin 10 - Brown white - Trim sender to trim gauge
Hope I got it right.
