Couple of questions about some small mods for my engine.
1. What torque should i put the exhaust riser bolts at, i had to replace the gaskets, started seeing rust marks running down the riser?
2. Can i do away with the valve cover breather hose going to the flame arrestor and just put in some vent filters? Will i change anything with the running by doing this. I want to put a K&N flame arrestor on it. I haven't looked at both sides yet, but i think they are both just vents for the valve covers.
3. What is the purpose of doing away with the cast iron circulating pump and putting on a crossover kit, are they referring to the engine waterpump, or the sea water pump? saw it in my eddie marine catolog.
4. Also, eddie marine sells two different intake manifolds for my engine, dual plane and single plane and for square bore and oval bore. I have a rochestor carb, would either do me any good other than saving weight and if they would, which should i get.
thanks for the help guys.

#2--K&N makes adapters for the breather hoses
#3--You won't see any gains and there really is no reason to remove it on stock engine
#4--depends on what 454 intake you currently have. A dual plane would be the best choice.

Re: '90 454 questions
well, the only reason i was thinking about the breathers is becuase i wanted to do away with the clutter of the hoses going to the arrestor. Just didn't know if i would harm anything by doing that. I have the stock intake on right now, it's getting rusty and ugly and i thought i would upgrade to an aluminum.
