Default Drilling Stringers

I have done a search an could not find the info I needed, but I need to know how everybody treats the holes drilled into the stringers. I am installing strainers and will have one on either side of the main stringer and they will be thru bolted. Do I just seal the holes with silicone?

Thanks

you should use white 5200. Or if you plan on taking the braket off anytime soon, 4200 is more forgiving upon removal.

We use West system. Two or three good coats and she'll be like new.

don't forget to drill the holes oversized if you are going to treat them with epoxy, as it will shrink the hole. my fathers has had boats for 45 years and he always uses 5200 liberally coated on any bolt or screw that goes into transum stringers etc. never seen a rot problem on any of his boats. be sure to goop it up good and use a rag with some laquer thinners to clean up.
