I understand that Merc made this drive from 85-89. You almost never hear about them anymore. Were they any stronger than an Alpha 1 and are there any used ones out there?

They are awesome drives!! It is a shame Merc stopped producing them. They are very nice on smaller boats with high revving small blocks. They also have a very efficient case with a low water pick-up!

You mean like this?
It is an outboard CLE case that makes this so special. It is 2.5 inches shorter than the std alpha case....... all these boats NEED outboard parts to be fast!

Does Konrad still make the Alpha replacement? It was very close to the SS.

I had Konrad go through my drive a while back and they said that they were no longer producing the Omega SS. They were keeping the remaining parts for warrenty replacement stock.

Are you looking to buy one? I sold mine to a guy a couple of years ago and he can't use it (his x dimension was already raised so high the prop wasn't in the water when he turned). Wanted me to buy it back. It might still be available.

Yes, I would be interested if the price is right. Is it fresh or in need of rebuild?
