oilpump shaft about half inch to long dist . wont goin any body else have this problem

The drive has a six point hex and sometimes needs slight "persuasion " to go down on oil pump hex. It would have been ideal if you had fit it on BEFORE getting to this point while pan was still off but I have had same problem before,Smitty

I just recently had the same problem, i took a long flat head screwdriver and slowly tapped it with a hammer as i turned it , went right on .
