had just that set up in my drag boat. Didn't like the Kuhl pump as they leaked and messed up the fuel injector pump.
I used a Teel pump for an RV with a bypass loop (with check valve) around it.

Very educational...got to love this OSO thing.
How about releif vavles and where to put them in the system...since I'm installing sea strainers too.

I've just about finished my first season with the KPM pumps and had no issues. Nice pump in my opinion. The plastic housing on the mercs always made me nervous.
