i am def. going to use forged pistons and crank. and i want to stay around the 9:5:1 ratio on the comp. i really would like to buy everything from one place as a kit or something and then just bring my block to my machine shop and have it done. the world stroker parts say there already balenced. is that just a bore and bolt in kit?

You may want to consider using a 502 block, since you're replacing all the internal parts anyway. The bigger bore pistons cost about the same, and you'll have a 540/547/555 when you're done. The 502 block is a lot stronger, and has blind head bolt holes, among other advantages. I found mine at a machine shop for $750, machined and ready to assemble. A lot of extra torque and hp for a little money. Just a thought.

good point, but i would rather just do my block and if something ever happens then i will be forced to get a 502+

I built a 489" (.030 over bore) using a Gen VI block. I shopped the internet for best deals.
I used: Scat forged crank $600 Eagle H-beam rods (6.135" length) $350 SRP forged pistons (10 to 1 comp.) $525 No block clearancing was needed, but I did zero-deck the block, among other things. I`m running rectangle-port Merlins and a .612" roller cam. It runs good, plenty fast in a 22' Baja. |

Gen 4 blocks may require grinding in the pan rail area so the rods have clearance while in rotation. Depending on rod design and the block this can be minimal to a mild grinding job.
Zero decking is bringing cutting the block deck surface down till the piston face is equal to it or "Zero" deck. This enhances the flame travel and compression by optimizing the quench area. Chris |
