What HeadGasket did Merc use on 575sci?

Well I should have taken Quiet Storm's advice to change them before I ran it again. About 6 months after I posted my question I lost the gaskets and ended up with a complete rebuild. 180 hours. Did end up though with a roller cam and more HP from Pfaff.

That is how I found out the original head gaskets are lousy. The good thing was after rebuilding the motors, they were fantastic. I miss them.

I agree!!! Cometic or Fle-Pro MLS (Very simular or maybe even identical) are the way to go.
We have always run Fel-Pros with the internal lock wire on supercharged applications. With great results! (Reciever grooves must be cut in head or deck for their use)
However, we started using MLS/Cometic gaskets a couple of years ago after seeing them used on 2000HP+ drag engines running 30+ pounds of boost without grooves or wire.
They have been flawless...
