Default Negative trim on a #5 drive

I have #5 drives on Stelling's box's on my 38 Cigarette. With this combination and stock mercury gimbles, I have almost no negative trim.
I've looked at making tapered spacers to go between either the box's and the transom or the gimbles and the box's, but I'm afraid that combination would reek havoc with the short drive shaft or the u-joints on the input shaft for the drives.
My next thought is to offset the trim ram pin, on either end, so I could use the stock #5 rams, to "pull" the drives in a little bit more in conjunction with any required modification to the drive where it "stops" it's inward motion.
I don't want to modify the box's, if I don't have to, to achieve the desired result.
I'm contemplating the modification for 2 reasons. #1: to cruise with less porpoising and #2: ease of getting on plane with and without spacers in the drives.
Anyone either tried this modification or know of someone that has?
Any help or suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

I would call Tres Martin. In his opinion, #5 SSM is the best combination on a Top Gun. He should have some experience with drive heights, extensions, and trim.
