Re: water pump pulley hits harmonic balancer
Yes on mine there is still some shaft left.My thought is the person at the factory that builds the things had a good lunch and had to much vitamin M for desert which can cause any thing from a slite mishap to a full blown FUBAR.I don't know. :drink: I do know that one monkey don't stop no show.James

Do these pulleys and brackets look like they could be right ? For a 454 and what pulley runs the sea pump.

Re: water pump pulley hits harmonic balancer
Mine looks exactly like the setup above. I will tell you from experience that you must take the water pump pulley off if you pull the balancer. I did not realize until I bent the pulley and the shaft on the water pump. :(
The clearence is real close, like mentioned 1/8 of an inch. |
Re: water pump pulley hits harmonic balancer
On yours what pulley runs the sea pump?

Re: water pump pulley hits harmonic balancer
Harmonic balancer.

Re: water pump pulley hits harmonic balancer
Is it the middle one on the balancer.

Re: water pump pulley hits harmonic balancer
Is there a specific reason you are not using a crossover instead of the recirc. pump?
|
Re: water pump pulley hits harmonic balancer
I was told by the machine shop that it would be more reliable and keep an even temp through out the block. The guy I'm talking about built motor's for Outerlimits. What do you think ?

Re: water pump pulley hits harmonic balancer
My .02 double check everything again,if all else fails pull the hub out just enough to get your clearence.Stay away from the Xover in till you put on the blower.Buy you friend at Outerlimits a beer :drink:

Re: water pump pulley hits harmonic balancer
I see your point about the recirc pump, just don't run too high of a thermostat temp in salt water. Looks like you're putting together a nice piece. I hope you post some pictures when it's done. My good friend has a 24 Pantera he keeps at my place for the winter. I think it's a much more fun ride than my 28 Cigarette. Good luck.
