Marine Specific Lifters?
 

I am curious if there is a lifter designed for marine use.
Or should I be asking if there are any manufacturers with a product that is more conducive to the marine environment.

no same as automotive....best is a good roller set up

Thats a good question, but I am virtually sure that the answer is no. As I am sure you know, alot of us that run hydraulic rollers seem to like Morel lifters. Although I only have 1 season on them, I have them in my 540 without any issues. Dick ( MRGadgets) has had more than his share of lifter and cam problems. He was running a solid flat tappet that didnt last. I am not sure of what brand. He is giving Shubeck solid roller "X" lifters a try this year.

Over the last year we had the opportunity participate in an R& D project with the engineers at Morel in developing a Marine hi-performance hydraulic roller lifter. As a result morel has integrated design and materials from their Nascar Ultra Pro Series and Top fuel products into an upgraded captive link bar system for their marine hyd-roller series. The lifter has been both dyno tested and run in racing applications (in excess of 6000 RPM) with outstanding results showing reduced wear and increased durability with these upgrades. The resulting system worked so well, Morel has assigned the lifter its own part number and is continuing development on the marine specific lifter in both conventional and XLT (limited travel) designs.

Morel is a tier 1 company and they do not have a commercial website. Having been involved in the development I can provide you with any specifications you may need. The design parameters for these lifters was to RPM @ 6000+ reliably, with the most aggressive inverse radius lobes available. Using their CNC controlled machining process, the ID tolerance is kept @ .0002", the OD .0005". This reduces pump up/ bleed down rates. The link bar system is (materials and design) a direct transfer from the Nascar/NHRA programs. I will have photos available soon.
